Tomato "countryman": photos and description of the variety

Tomato variety "fellow countryman", bred by Siberian breeders, is remarkable for its adaptability to very uneasy weather conditions of medium and moderate Russian latitudes with their unpredictability and temperature drops.

About this culture, unpretentious and yielding, we will discuss this article.

Tomatoes "countryman": description

Varieties and hybrids, bred by Siberian breeders, are in demand by domestic gardeners and truck farmers who have already checked the quality of vegetable crops positioned on the seed market. One of the best representatives of Siberian tomatoes is the tomato "fellow countryman" - early deterministic cluster variety, annually encouraging stably high yields and intended for growing in open or sheltered sheltered beds.

The plant is formed into a strong compact shrub that reaches up to 70-75 cm in height, with medium leafiness and simple inflorescences. The first is laid down after the 6-7th sheet, and the next - every 1-2 sheets. In the brush there are up to 12-15 fruits, small, juicy, glossy, rich red, slightly elongated, resembling a plum in shape. Their weight varies from 60 to 80 g. The crop yield is quite impressive: in the open space from 1 sq. Km. M. Collect 5-8 kg of fruit, in protected - up to 10 kg.

The taste qualities of this tomato are also at an altitude: tomatoes are sweet, juicy with excellent refreshing pulp. They are used fresh, all kinds of salads and snacks, and also processed into high-quality juices and sauces. In addition, the small size of the fruit is the best suited for whole-fruit canning.

The advantages of tomato "countryman"

Advantages of this variety, which gives the first fruits on the 95-100-th day from the emergence of sprouts, believe:

  • Universality of the plant, equally successfully developing in the open bed and under the conditions of the greenhouse.
  • Good yield and stability of fruit formation.
  • High resistance to various diseases, for example, such as macrosporiosis, cladosporia, etc.
  • Endurance of culture
  • Good transportability.

In addition, tomato does not require pasynkovaniya, installation of trellises and additional supports for tying.

Growing seedlings

In warmer areas, tomato (sort of "countryman") sow seeds in the first decade of May. However, the cultivation of tomato in severe climatic conditions, and often also in zones of risky farming, involves the use of seedling method. Seeds, pre-treated with a solution of a biostimulator ("Zircon", "Epin") or manganese, are sown in containers with a loose fertile substrate, covered with glass or film and left in a warm bright place. They sow in seedlings in the middle or end of March. With the release of 2-3 of these leaflets, the seedlings are dived, that is, they are planted in separate containers. In the period of development, they need to be fed with full complex fertilizers, for example "Kemira", 2-3 times, dissolving them in a concentration reduced by two times indicated in the annotation to the preparations, and maintaining between top dressing 2-3 weeks.

Moderate irrigation and ensuring good lighting of the location of seedlings is the key to obtaining quality plants. The duration of the seedling period should not exceed 60-65 days, because overexposure of the plant in such a state can lead to inhibition of development and, as a result, slowing fruit formation.

Soil preparation

Tomato "countryman" prefers water and air permeable fertile weakly acid soils, therefore the excess acidity of the soil is neutralized by adding dolomite flour or lime during digging.

Before planting the site is prepared: a week before disembarkation is dug, adding to 1 square. M 10 kg of humus or quality sheet compost, 200 g of wood ash and 50 g of superphosphate.

Plants plants on a permanent place at the end of May or early June, placing on 1 square. Meter of 4-5 plants and maintaining intervals between them in 40-50 cm. This will help avoid thickening of plantings and reduce the possibility of infection on its background.

Care of the culture

Tomato "countryman" requires high-quality nutrition, as the very impressive fruit formation and fruit loss deplete the culture. After 7-10 days after planting the seedlings in beds or greenhouses, the plants are fed with a full mineral fertilizer dissolved in water, then, with a periodicity of 12-15 days, tomatoes are watered by adding 10 liters of water per 1 liter of manure or green fertilizer. Prepare it this way: in a plastic 100-liter tank, half filled with water, add crushed grass dandelion, nettles, skim, 1 kg of ash, 5-6 kg of manure, 100 g of superphosphate. After adding all the ingredients, the mixture must fill the barrel to the top. Insist it about a week. One plant is enough for 1.5 liters of solution. Extremely useful for tomato is foliar top dressing with microelements. For example, a solution of boric acid (5 g / 10 liters of water) stimulates the tying of fruits, and timely spraying of flowering bushes increases yield by 10-15%.

Watering the tomato "countryman" with warm water under the root, sprinkling is not acceptable for tomatoes. Irrigation should be fairly moderate, and with vegetation and pouring fruits - more abundant. The best time for watering is considered to be morning or evening hours, when the intensity of sunlight decreases noticeably.

Another important aspect of plant care is regular weeding and loosening of the soil. Spend them neatly, trying not to damage the roots, close enough to the surface layer.

Tomato "countryman": reviews

Gardeners and truck farmers who cultivate this variety note a good tolerance to the culture of low air temperatures, which is very important for many Russian regions. Another important fact is the fact that the plant does not need supports and bindings, and does not require pasynkovanie. These factors, along with the high resistance of the culture to the typical diseases of Solanaceae, make it possible to grow this tomato on an industrial scale.

Tomatoes "countryman", the photos of which we presented in the publication, have excellent qualities and justify the expectations of vegetable growers, endowing the end of the season with delicious elastic and sweet fruits.
