History of the theater

"The Fifth Chamber Theater" (Omsk) is quite young. It was formed in 1990. And from the moment of his appearance he immediately entered the creative life of the city swiftly and brightly. Today it is already an integral part of Omsk. The first art director of the theater was Sergei Rudzinsky. From the first days of existence, the troupe differed from the others existing in the city with an original repertoire.

The theater aspired to put not only classics known to the public, but also to discover new names of playwrights, to search for young authors, to put plays that had never seen a stage, to create their own versions of already known productions. The troupe very often went on tour to other countries already in the 90s. Thanks to this, the state dramatic "Fifth Theater" (Omsk) found friends among colleagues in Germany, France, Bulgaria, Finland, Poland and so on.

In 1996 the troupe initiated an interesting project. Days of Japanese culture were organized in Omsk. This project allowed the residents of the city to get acquainted with the performances and culture of the Land of the Rising Sun. In 1998, the German colleagues of the troupe organized in their country a Week of Russian Culture. There were shown performances of the "Fifth Theater" on the works of Russian classics. The troupe is the founder of various festival movements in the region: "Young Theaters of Russia", "We Play Gogol!". Today, the "Fifth Theater" continues its creative search and interacts with the audience on the principle of dialogue. Actors are able and ready to work in different genres.
