The drug "Paracetamol" - composition, indications, contraindications
The drug "Paracetamol", the composition of which determines the ability of the drug to reduce temperature and reduce pain, is the most popular analgesic and antipyretic, belonging to the group of anilids. Forms of release of the drug are very diverse. This syrup and candles, elixirs and drops, tablets (simple, chewable and effervescent), as well as solutions for injection and for internal reception.
The drug "Paracetamol", the formula of which contains the chemical compound N- (4-Hydroxyphenyl) acetamide, is a metabolite of phenacetin and has similar properties. The main advantages of the drug include its low toxicity and lower ability to form methaemoglobin. With prolonged use in large doses, the drug may cause side reactions, but the drug "Paracetamol", whose composition is safe, is included by WHO in the list of the most effective analgesics recommended for prescribing to children. According to its physical characteristics, it is a crystalline powder with a white color with a pink or cream tinge. Paracetamol dissolves easily in alcohol.
In the process of pharmacological action on the body, the drug blocks the enzyme of cyclooxygenase, activating the synthesis of prostaglandins. The drug "Paracetamol", the composition of which allows to affect the center of pain and temperature regulation, affects the central nervous system. The drug is absorbed by the digestive system for a short period and binds to blood plasma proteins at a volume of fifteen percent. Chemical changes in the active substance are carried out in the liver. In this case, glucuronide and paracetamol sulfate are formed. The elements of the drug are excreted through the kidneys. When taking a medication by a breastfeeding woman, less than one percent of the dose of the drug falls into the breast milk.
The drug "Paracetamol" is prescribed, the composition of which allows you to get rid of the fever and pain syndrome, for the treatment of diseases that are infectious. They can be arthralgia and neuralgia, myalgia and migraines, algodismenorei, as well as dental and headache. The drug does not affect the progression of the disease and is intended for symptomatic effect and temporary relief of the patient's condition.
Side effects of the drug "Paracetamol", a description of which can be found in the manual, can be expressed in violation of the formation of the reproductive organs of the fetus when taking the medication by a pregnant woman. Also, the consequence of drug use may be aseptic pyuria, renal colic, thrombocytopenia, anemia, interstitial glomeruonephritis, and allergic manifestations on the skin.
The drug "Paracetamol" is not prescribed under the following conditions:
- individual sensitivity to its composition,
- erosion and ulcerative processes in the digestive system;
- a combination of bronchial asthma with polyposis of the nose and paranasal sinuses in the stage of relapse;
- intolerance to acetylsalicylic acid;
- Renal diseases of a progressive nature;
- inflammatory diseases of the digestive tract;
- active liver diseases;
- bleeding in the gastrointestinal tract;
- rehabilitation after coronary artery bypass grafting;
- Hyperkalemia.
It is forbidden to take the drug in the third trimester of pregnancy, it is also not given to a newborn before the month of life.
With extreme caution, the use of the drug is possible with the following ailments:
- viral hepatitis;
- alcoholism;
- Renal, hepatic and heart failure;
- Diabetes mellitus;
- somatic diseases of severe form;
- diseases of peripheral arteries;
- nicotine addiction;
- Ischemia of the heart.
