Kazan Railway Station (metro station "Komsomolskaya") was built in the 60s of the XIX century at the time of Kalanchevskaya Square for the Ryazan railway line. Since 1894, it began to go and train the Kazan direction. The construction of a modern building began in 1913, and it was completed only in 1940 due to a shortage of labor.

The architects of the project were Shekhtel and Shchusev, who came up with the basic idea of construction. They decided that the station should be built in the traditions of Russian national architecture, with a high central tower surrounded by buildings of varying storeys and volumes.

Kazan Station (metro station "Komsomolskaya") - this is the greatest structure, which is facing the Komsomolskaya Square, Novoryazanskaya Street and Ryazan Passage by three facades. The main attraction of the building is the central tower, whose height reaches 73 meters, resembling the tower of the Kazan Kremlin. At its top is the figure of the serpent Zilant, the oldest symbol of Kazan.

Another attraction of the station building is a small clock tower, the dial of which consists of the signs of the Zodiac. In the 1950s a suburban communication hall was built up, which was connected to the Komsomolskaya metro station. And in 1980-90 there was a reconstruction of the building, the appearance of the station was updated and the redevelopment of the premises was made. Also the station was equipped with modern technology.
