The drug "Iodinol": a method of application in the treatment of various diseases

"Iodinol" is an antiseptic iodine-containing product, which also contains polyvinyl alcohol. The active substance of the drug is potassium iodide. Due to the content of polyvinyl alcohol in iodinol, the time of interaction of iodine with inflamed tissues increases, since its release slows down. In addition, the degree of irritant action of this substance on the damaged surface decreases. Among the analogues of "Iodinol" can be mentioned "Yoks", "Polyvidon-iodine", "Betadin" and "Vokadin".

"Iodinol": method of application

The drug is prescribed only topically, externally. Among the indications for the use of "Iodinol" are the following diseases:

- chronic tonsillitis;

Purulent surgical diseases;

- purulent otitis media;

- burns (thermal and chemical);

- trophic, varicose ulcers;

- stomatitis.

To process the operating field, "Iodinol" is also used.

Recommendations for the use of the drug for various diseases

The principle of surface treatment with "Iodinol" solution differs depending on which disease is treated. So, with chronic tonsillitis drug is prescribed as follows: "Iodinol" washed lacunae of the tonsils, as well as supratonsillar spaces every two or three days, as the doctor will appoint. Usually, there are enough four to five washes to recover. For one treatment, as a rule, about 50 ml of solution is used.

When atrophic rhinitis is also prescribed "Iodinol". The method of application in this case is as follows: irrigation of the nasal sinuses and rinsing of the throat. The procedures are performed two or three times a week for two to three months. Before the application of "Iodinol" pre-soften and remove from the nose dried crusts.

Successfully used the drug "Iodinol" with stomatitis. If an adult needs treatment, then it is enough for him to moisten the cotton disc or tampon with medicinal product and to treat the whole internal surface of the mouth: cheeks, gums, tongue. If the treatment is done for small children (strictly according to the doctor's prescription), in this case it will be more convenient to wrap the index finger with a sterile gauze pad, moisten it with "Iodinol" and gently treat the infected areas. The drug should be applied after meals two or three times a day, as prescribed by the pediatrician. Perhaps, for the procedure, the solution will need to be diluted with boiled and chilled water.

"Iodinol": a method of application for burns and other diseases

Since any kind of burns can not be lubricated with a cotton swab, "Iodinol" is applied to gauze sterile dressings and put them on a sore spot.

In cases of severe inflammation of the throat , Iodinol is also prescribed. Rinsing is carried out as follows: 15 ml of solution diluted with a glass of boiled chilled water.

With purulent otitis (inflammation of the middle ear), "Iodinol" drips into the ear canal for five to seven drops. Treatment lasts, on average, about three to four weeks, depending on the severity of the disease.

Contraindications to the use of "Iodinol"

The drug is not prescribed for the following diseases: thyrotoxicosis, herpetiform dermatitis, and hypersensitivity to iodine. The use of "Iodinol" in pregnancy, breastfeeding, as well as the possibility of treatment with the drug in childhood should be discussed with the attending physician separately. In any case, "Iodinol", the method of application of which is given here, is a drug, and not a biologically active additive. Therefore it is inadmissible to use it for self-treatment. In addition to indications for use, there is compatibility of the components of "Iodinol" with other drugs, as well as the allowable daily dose of the drug. Only a specialist knows all these subtleties. Do not ignore this circumstance and engage in self-treatment without doctor's advice.
