Ultop. Instructions for use

The drug "Ultop" belongs to the group of antiulcer drugs and serves as an inhibitor of H + -K + -ATPase. The active substance of the drug is omeprazole.

The drug "Ultop" is an intestine-soluble capsule. 10 milligram capsules of pink color with a white lid. Inside the capsule are pellets, which can have white, yellow-white or white-pink color.

Capsules with 20 or 40 milligrams of pink medication with a pinkish-brown lid.

In addition to Omeprazole in Ultop, the instructions for use describe this in detail, include sodium carbonate, sugar granules and sucrose, a copolymer of methacrylic and ethethacrylic acid, giprolase, and some other substances.

An anti-ulcer drug inhibits the activity of certain gastric enzymes, thereby preventing the formation of hydrochloric acid in the stomach. "Ultop", the instruction on the use of the drug explains this, does not allow the last stage of the chemical reaction to occur.

If the drug is used once, then its effect will not appear in less than an hour, the maximum effect will come in 2 hours and, gradually decreasing, will last a day. Completely secretory activity of the stomach will be restored in about 72 hours.

Dosage in the treatment of the drug "Ultop", the instructions for use clearly explains this, depends on the type of disease.

So, in the case of Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, first a check is made to determine the level of gastric secretion. By its number and selected individual dosage. It can be maximum: 120 mg per day. Take medicine for this disease twice a day.

For the prevention of reflux-zoophagitis, exacerbation of stomach ulcers or intestines, in the treatment of ulcerative-erosive lesions of the gastrointestinal tract, the dose is usually 10-20 mg, and the treatment lasts about 8 weeks. With the aggravation of these diseases, "Ultop", the instruction explains, is assigned in higher quantities.

However, one should not forget the simple truth: only a doctor is able to correctly choose the dose and determine the duration of treatment for any patient.

Otherwise, you can cause irreparable harm to the body. At a minimum, Ultop, the instruction for use does not conceal this, it can cause side reactions. Among them:

  • Dysfunction of the liver

  • Violation of the functions of hematopoiesis, changes in blood composition
  • Pain in the bones and muscles
  • Anaphylactic shock, allergic swelling, itching, urticaria
  • Visual impairment

However, it is established that in order to avoid such reactions, it is enough simply to follow the doctor's instructions, inform him about the appearance of the first incomprehensible or unplanned symptoms.

"Ultop" medicine is not prescribed to everyone.

It is contraindicated in children, pregnant women, people with individual intolerance or impaired liver or kidney function.

Uncontrolled use of the drug, an unauthorized increase in its quantity may lead to an overdose, which may result in the death of the patient.

Signs of an overdose of the drug "Ultop", the instruction continues to clarify, are immediately apparent. This is a violation of vision, confusion, loss of orientation, vertigo, nausea, hallucinations. If at least one of these symptoms manifests itself, medical assistance is urgently needed.

During the study of the drug it was found that it can be used simultaneously with antacids, drugs containing caffeine, ethanol, cyclosporine, lidocaine and the like.
