Laxative "Guttalax" is a derivative of triarylmethane. It operates exclusively in the zone of the colon. Due to sulphate-producing bacteria living in the large intestine, a radical is split off from the sodium picosulfate molecule, as a result of which the drug turns into its active form - it is transformed into free diphenol. It increases the peristalsis of the colon, stimulates the receptors of the mucosa.
