The Bermuda Triangle is some area of the Atlantic Ocean. If you draw imaginary lines along the water, then the tops of this triangle form Miami, Puerto Rico and Bermuda. By name of the latter, the region, in fact, was named. To a large extent, the Bermuda Triangle coincides with the Sargasso Sea.
The history of the notoriety
For the first time, there are allegedly unexplained and too many extinctions in this geographic area, one of the Associated Press correspondents wrote in 1950. Although the very concept of the "Bermuda Triangle" appeared only in the mid-1960s. Journalists around the world enthusiastically picked up this fascinating and so beneficial topic. During the 60-70-ies there were hundreds of publications about the mysterious and insecure region. The Bermuda Triangle, whose photo appeared more and more on the front pages of newspapers, became a worldwide scarecrow. In 1974, the same book was published, where all the facts of disappearances in the ocean between Miami and Bermuda were collected. Charles Berlitz, a supporter of mystical concepts, gave facts in the spirit of anomalous phenomena. The book quickly became a bestseller, not least inflating the fame of these waters to the whole world. A year later another author - Lawrence Kusche - published a book, which set out his own version of what was happening. He tried to prove that nothing unusual there, in fact, never happened, and all the speculation about mystical phenomena is only the result of an inordinate search for sensationalism by journalists.
Versions about the nature of the phenomenon
More than a hundred disappearances of ships and aircraft were associated with the Bermuda Triangle. However, it is important to note that to date many of these cases have received their refutation: some of them occurred for well-studied and rational reasons, others were recorded outside the region, and still others did not happen at all, being only the fruit of journalistic fantasies. In fact, in a serious society, the Bermuda Triangle has long been not perceived as something abnormal. After all, some accidents and crashes happen all over the world. And here, moreover, there are very busy transport and passenger routes. Not surprisingly, the number of accidents here may seem somewhat larger. At the same time, there are still adherents of anomalous phenomena: wormholes into parallel worlds, tricks of extraterrestrials and so on. By the way, this soil is very fertile in the cinema. Only in the last two decades has a whole series of films, one way or another narrating about the mysticism in these waters. In addition to the anomalous versions, some rationalists put forth their natural variants, which could explain the causes of the crash. Among them are hypotheses about methane emissions from the seabed deposits, which seriously dilute the water and literally make ships sink, versions of possible underwater air pockets that occasionally provoke a whirlpool of water.
