The Art of Origami: How to Make a Hat from Paper

Origami - the ancient art of making paper of various figures. Of course, cranes, which are mentioned in Japanese legends, flowers or various objects - it's interesting and exciting. But you can do useful things in this way. For example, a hat-cap, a cocked hat or even a cap.

Master the cocked hat

For those who are interested in how to make a hat made of paper, we can teach several useful lessons. The simplest version is the "cocked hat". Take a newspaper in large format. Take out one double sheet. In the folded form, put it with lapels down on the table in front of you. Bend the sheet again in half, diagonally. You have got "valleys" - a longitudinal line-landmark, which you should definitely outline before making a hat. Now you need to fold the triangle from the paper. For this, expand the newspaper (all also double) sheet and bend both of its upper corners - left and right towards each other. You should get an equilateral triangle, pointing the main point up. True, it does not include part of the newspaper space. The next step is how to make a hat from paper: bend up, to the boundary of the bottom of the triangle, the free bottom edge first of one sheet, and then, turning the entire design "face" down, and the other. The folded edges must coincide with each other. Your hat is almost ready. However, there is still a question: how to make a hat made of paper stronger? The corners of the edges stick out loose, and the headdress may simply fall apart. The simplest thing is to drop some glue on them. Now spread your design. If everything was right, you should get a real cocked hat. By the way, if it comes to the New Year holidays, and the family has children and plans to tailor carnival costumes, such a master class will be very useful for you. This origami of paper (hat) will be an excellent basis for a pirate hat or Napoleonic tricorn. And if the house is renovated - and then your design is very useful!

The pilot from the newspaper

However, we will continue. Now we are faced with more complex manipulations, since we will add a cap-cap. How? I would like to note that almost all such designs are made on the basis of the billet that we described above. Only glue the corners is not necessary. Just bend and flatten. Master crafts "paper hat" is now this way: put the workpiece in the shape of a diamond. Drop the corners downward, at the top level. Now pull and straighten them. Stretch your cap and go safely to the beach. Or on the garden.

Cap-cap

Comfortable and useful in the summer is a newspaper cap. Its advantages are in the visor, which reliably "pritenit" your nose and part of the face. We take the same large sheet of newspaper, folded in half. Again bend to the middle of both its upper ends and leave in this position. Turn the lower part inside (several times). Only now each leaf separately (to have space for the head). The ends are removed (bend) on opposite sides. Turn now your future hat to your back. Fold down its top (toward yourself). Corner fill for the "border" of the base. In order not to stick out "ears", and the top acquired a resemblance to a cap, they also lower them down, behind the "border". Again turn the workpiece face-to-face and make a visor. Cap ready!
