Mounting of door frames: calculation, order of works

The installation of door frames must be carried out very carefully. The main feature of the installation are flat vertical and horizontal sides. Thanks to this principle, the door will last for a long time, it will not warp, and the loops will not creak.

Types of installations

The installation of the door boxes begins at the end of the finishing work not only on the wall and ceilings, but also on the floor, that is where the floor covering has already been laid. But until the moment when the walls will be painted or wallpapered.

Doors can have three complete sets:

1. Cloth. In this case, the purchase of the box and consumables is done separately. That is, you can buy a tree and build from it the necessary door frame. Standard boxes are also available. They must exactly enter the opening.
2. Cloth with a box. In this case, all the structural elements are selected under the opening, but are in disassembled form. Their assembly can be done independently or with the help of masters.
3. Door block. Entrance doors are completely assembled, it remains only to securely secure them in the doorway.

Any of the options is chosen by the owner of the apartment, based on personal preferences. It is worth noting that the cost of them is also different.

Calculation and size of the box

Dimensions of standard doors differ from country to country. For example, standard entrance doors in Russia have a width of 700 mm, 800 mm, etc. In Italy there are very different figures - 790 mm, 890 mm. But the choice in the domestic market is much greater. If the standard dimensions do not fit, then you need to redo the doorway. There are no other options.

The size of the box is calculated by the regulatory documentation and depends on the type of premises:

• In the kitchen - 2 x 0.7 m;
• In the bathroom - 2 x 0.6 m;
• In the living room - 2 x 1.2 m.

However, not always such structures are installed, since after construction works openings can change their size. To order a door of the right size, measure the opening, and take a smaller standard value. Before carrying out the measurements, you should inspect the door opening for defects and perform this procedure after correcting them.

An important parameter is the depth of the box. It should have a value of 80 cm. In some houses the thickness of the walls may be greater. In this case, the box is installed flush with the wall, and the remaining gaps are closed.

Beginning of work

Before installing the box it is necessary to assemble it in a single unit. The process is performed on the floor. Vertical and horizontal elements connect with each other. Next, check for irregularities and work with sandpaper. Bought items must fit exactly under the door. Before installing, it's best to check it so that you do not have to re-do it later. The door is attached to the assembled box. Clearances on both sides should be about 3 mm. Only then the doors will normally open and close. As a rule, the lateral vertical racks make above the door by 15 cm. When installing them, it will be necessary to lower them to the lags, or to adjust them in height, that is, remove the unnecessary 15 cm.

Assembling the door box

This process is performed using self-tapping screws. It all depends on how the corners of the slats are located. If at an angle of 45º, then the holes for the screws are drilled diagonally and the bar is twisted with a horizontal bar.

Much easier if the corners in the box have 90 degrees. But for the reliability of the hole still drill. Such properties have a box of MDF.

The upper bar is applied to the side, then the edges are leveled and two holes are made for self-tapping screws. To date, the lower horizontal bar is not used, which greatly simplifies the work. The assembled wooden door frames should be checked for gaps so that the elements can be freely opened and closed. If they are, then the assembly is correct.

As stated earlier, the vertical bars are made a bit larger. The easiest way is to cut off the required amount. On both counters, measurements are made in comparison with the door opening, and with the help of the saw cut off the excess part. Thus, half of the work is already done.

Installing loops

On light wooden doors there should be two loops. One is located at the top, the other - at the bottom. If the doors are heavy, then a third one is installed strictly in the middle. Embedding loops is performed on the floor. Its a prerequisite is that the pin should look up. Using a chisel on the beams and on the door, special notches are made, into which the hinges are inserted. The clearance between the door and the side stand must be at least 4 mm.

Installation of a finished box

The assembled door frame, which forms the letter "P", is set according to the level in the opening. It is fixed using spacers. The level is constantly used. Comfortable use of the door depends on how it will be exposed. Therefore, this procedure requires special attention.

Further, the fastening elements are selected. Depending on the material of the wall, you can choose self-tapping screws or large dowels. Fastening for the door frame is done in several places. The distance between them should be about 30 cm, that is, 7 self-tapping screws or dowels are installed on the vertical bars, and 3 pieces on the horizontal bars. In the door box holes are drilled for self-tapping screws. Moreover, the size of the drill must be smaller than the size of the cap. Only in this case the door will hold securely.

Much more difficult to do, if the wall is made of bricks or other solid elements. It is already necessary to perform the installation of door frames with dowels. Their installation is particularly difficult, since the dowel must enter the brick block, and not into the seams. Here it is necessary to work with a drill with a diameter of more than 4 mm. And do it so that there are no traces left on the wall. Next, remove the door frame and check what place the drill got into. If in the seam, then you need to look for another place to make it easier, on the box leave notes in pencil. If it gets into the brick, then start making holes for the dowels. Now, re-install the wooden box so that the holes in it match the dowels. Then, using the level, the installation is checked.

The next step is to install the door leaf. On the already inserted pins, located at the top, doors are hung. Further check the functioning of the door. It should open and close freely. After that, all gaps are filled with mounting foam.

Fixation with foam

The installation of door frames ends with its secure attachment. To do this, check the fixation of the structure. The sealing material is placed in the formed slots. As it can serve as a cardboard. The door closes and the spacers are installed, so that it does not arch in different directions.

Next, take the balloon with mounting foam and fill the gap. Too much to use it is not necessary, because over time it expands. Typically, one box is enough for half the balloon. If there is a lot of it, then when it dries it can bend the door strips and the installation procedure will have to be performed from scratch. Blowing the foam slit, the door is left for 24 hours. After solidification, the installed door box is given an attractive appearance. That is, the remainders of the foam are cut off and the spacers are removed. The design is fully operational.

If the installation is incorrect, the door will not open properly and close, and there will also be big problems with the hinges.
