Tensel, cloth - what is it?

The first fiber from cellulose, obtained with the use of nanotechnology, was called "lyocel". Its commercial name received as Tencel - the company Lenzing, "orcel" - VNIIIIPV (Russia).

The fabric was first made in 1988 in the UK. Currently, the tensile is produced in the USA (Mobile, Alabama, by Lenzing AG), in England (Grimsby), in Austria (Heiligenkreuz, Burgenland).

Properties

Fabrics from the tensile make a serious competition to natural fabrics made from natural fibers. By their qualities they have the following advantages.

- soft, fit well to the body;

- are not subject to rupture, both in the wet state and in the dry;

- hygienic;

- environmentally friendly;

- superior in elasticity and moisture absorption of cotton;

- do not crumple;

- they can be washed both manually and in a typewriter;

- keep all their properties after dry cleaning;

- well painted in the production process;

Well imitate the texture of natural materials: suede, leather, and silk. In the process of production, the tensile is processed in various ways. For example, they combine threads with fibers of cotton, wool, silk, viscose, flax, nylon, polyester. Probably, it is possible to spin a thread from a pure tensile, but for now it is very expensive material.

Advantages and disadvantages

1. Tensel - the most durable fabric of cellulose fibers. It is stronger than cotton and linen.

2. Tensel - fabric with glitter, perfectly draped.

3. In view of the fact that this is an artificial fiber, the diameter and length of the filaments can be varied during production. A thin fabric is widely used in the textile industry.

4. Has a moderate elasticity, does not crumple like cotton or linen.

5. For clothing from this fabric is characterized by a slight shrinkage when washing.

6. Tensel - a tissue hypoallergenic, because it is environmentally friendly, without harmful chemicals, fiber, smooth, not traumatizing skin. Suitable for people with dry skin and prone to dermatitis.

7. Hygiene. Eucalyptus, from which the tensile is made, has curative and bactericidal properties. Tensel - the fabric for bedding is the most suitable.

8. Breathability and hygroscopicity. Tensel perfectly passes air (breathes), hygroscopicity and moisture yield are better than cotton, silk. Good moisture exchange allows the body to remain dry. Products retain a good appearance even after repeated cleansing.

Application

As practice shows, tensile production costs more than cotton or viscose. To improve the quality apply various additives to the tissues: algae, aloe, silver ions. As a result, the tensile becomes an excellent universal fiber with many useful properties.

In the textile market, it is popular and in demand. Widely used for many everyday purposes and in clothing, for example, denim, underwear, sportswear, like a fabric for bedding.

Tensel is used in the production of conveyor belts, special paper, napkins and diapers for babies, dressings. In recent years, production has a tendency to move to other countries. Suppliers of fabrics are in the Far East, Italy, Portugal, Turkey, India.
