Sanitary facilities are ... Technology and production of sanitary ware

The mankind has been using objects made from sanitary faience for only the second century. Until then, the toilet bowls, sinks and baths were made of metal only. And even before, the water closet had not yet been invented, although devices for tapping sewage were found in ancient China and in Ancient Otrar (Kazakhstan) during excavations, and Leonardo da Vinci invented a toilet seat with a sewer for his king.

Why are plumbers made from earthenware?

It is difficult to disagree with the fact that sanitary ware is the most convenient material for use in such a damp place as a bathroom. Items made of household ceramics, covered with a layer of special glaze, meet the basic necessary qualities:

  • The products are very durable;
  • Easy to clean from dirt and water raids;
  • Have a beautiful aesthetic appearance;
  • A variety of designs, shapes and color solutions does not cease to amaze and delight;
  • Perfectly in harmony with any finishing materials;
  • Resistant to moisture and odor absorption;
  • Have a glossy, almost mirror-like surface.

Technological features of production

The material is produced by mixing varieties of white clay, quartz sand, kaolin and firing in a special high-temperature regime. At its core, sanitary ware is a dense, non-porous ceramics, covered with a layer of glaze. The more homogeneous the components and the mixture itself, the better the texture of the finished product.

First, the finished mixture is poured into molds, where excessive moisture is given. Then the extracted semi-finished products are dried at an initial temperature of about 600 degrees. If you skip this step, there is inevitably a cracking of the products with hot firing. Dried billets are covered with a liquid mixture containing special components, including powder glass and other additives. It is at the stage of glazing that all faience acquires a given color: pink or white, black or blue, green or lilac. Everything depends on the substances mixed with the liquid glaze, which protects the ceramic shard from impregnation with moisture and absorption of odors.

The final firing is carried out in special furnaces at a temperature exceeding 1100 degrees. Gradually cooling down right in the closed stoves, the plumber acquires that appearance and qualities for which it is so appreciated in the modern market.

Quality sanitary ware is dried and burned in accordance with all stages of the technological chain of the product. The absence of cracks, chips and areas without glaze characterizes the plumbing of a self-respecting company.

Where do kings go on foot?

It's hard to believe that a few centuries ago, mankind did not have special secluded places in their dwellings. Suffice it to recall that the "ancestor" of the toilet was an ordinary night pot, which lived in the bedroom under the bed.

The very first toilet seat with a drain tank was invented for Queen Elizabeth in 1596.

Early devices for performing the procedure for releasing the body from excess consisted of two parts: a bowl and a pipe - a pallet. As a result of the prolonged process of "evolution" of this subject in 1883, the Englishman Thomas Twweford came up with the genius idea of creating an integral model. It was called "toilet bowl", which means "unity". The device was made of faience and equipped with a wooden seat.

Ode to modern plumber

The production of sanitary ware in modern society is at such a level that, along with the usual ones, models of toilet bowls of absolutely fantastic designs come to the market:

  • Wall or floor versions;
  • Hanging, attachable or freestanding structures;
  • With Turkish bowls;
  • With a storage tank hidden in the wall;
  • With a drain directly from the aqueduct;
  • With a programmed removal of odors ;
  • Coated antimicrobial glazes, which include silver;
  • With application of water-repellent glaze;
  • With heated seat;
  • With electronic remote control;
  • With rinse aid and automatic flushing;
  • With a sound device simulating the murmur of water (for especially economical and shy individuals);
  • With the installed anti-spill system.

There is no limit to human ingenuity and flights of fantasy! Modern sanitary ware is not just functional and necessary household items in every home or office. These are models that simplify and facilitate life in the high-speed century of technology.
