Technological Features of Docking Conveyor Belt

When carrying out the joining of conveyor belts, it is necessary to clearly represent the conditions of their operation, that is, to ensure maximum compliance of dimensions and properties with the level of loads.

The conveyor belt has the following characteristics:

- construction;

- length, width, total thickness;

- the thickness of the working and non-working plates;

- number of pads and type of fabric;

- tensile strength of one gasket and total strength;

- elongation at 10% of the breaking load;

- type of rubber and purpose.

To assess the operating conditions, use:

- purpose of the conveyor belt - traction or weight-bearing body;

- type of cargo (large, small, cold, hot, etc.);

- length of transportation, tilt angle, capacity, actual load;

- diameters of drums;

- speed of cargo movement.

On long (more than 200 m) conveyors, it is necessary to take into account that the conveyor belt can be lengthened, therefore, TLC, EP fabrics should be preferred.

The number of gaskets is determined by the traction load and troughing on the conveyor. It is important to pay attention to their compliance with the minimum possible diameter of the drums. Otherwise, the joint of the "thick" tape will not have a durability. The speed of the belt also determines the durability of joints. If the speed exceeds 10 m / s, it is better to use infinite (seamless) belt designs.

Docking of conveyor belts , carried out taking into account all the characteristics of the belt and operating conditions, is capable of ensuring a long trouble-free operation of the conveyor.

The most favorable for conducting the joining of conveyor belts is the ambient temperature of about 20 ˚С.

Work on joining conveyor belts is carried out by specialized teams, both at fixed production sites and with the brigade's departure directly to the customer. Before joining conveyor belts, it is necessary to evaluate their quality, because in accordance with regulatory documentation, certain defects that affect the performance of tapes may be tolerated.

Sickling - the curvature of the tape is checked by rolling all or part of the bay on a flat surface. The presence of corrugations and folds of the core (waviness) is an incorrigible defect in the ribbons. The site with corrugations must be cut out, or such a band should be planned for light operating conditions. Porosity of the lining - a sign of poor quality raw materials for rubber and subsequent vulcanization - makes the tape unusable. The presence of deep (3 mm or more) dents, metal and rubber solid inclusions - an unrecoverable defect of the belts, they should be recommended for use in medium and light conditions. The presence of a thickness of the coatings or carcass (up to 30%) along the width of the strips requires additional overlap of raw rubber on the assembled joint during its vulcanization. The hilly surface of the working lining - a sign of poor-quality cleaning of the press plates of the belt manufacturer - leads to an increased wear of the rubber.

Cold joint vulcanization is applicable for tapes up to 1200 mm wide, operated in light and medium conditions, as well as tapes with a width of more than 1200 mm for light conditions on conveyors with a length of not more than 50 m.

Hot vulcanization of joints can be used in all cases of operation of tapes, except for extreme conditions requiring the use of seamless tapes.
