Bekker's cyst: symptomatology, causes and treatment

The Becker cyst is usually called a popliteal hernia, because it externally manifests itself in the form of protrusion in this area, which arises in connection with the inflammation occurring in the knee joint.

This process is as follows. Each person has a mucous interstitial bag, which is located on the knee joint, on the back surface. In the event that there is inflammation in it, the resulting liquid gradually accumulates in this bag. As a result, there is an overflow, an increase in size and persistent pain that restrict movement in the knee joint.

The Becker cyst appears for the following reasons:

  • Presence of metabolic-dystrophic diseases (for example, changes in the meniscus);
  • Inflammatory diseases.

The main problem is that at the initial stage the disease is completely asymptomatic, accompanied by unpleasant, but weak sensations. But as it grows and develops, it begins to put pressure on the nerves that are next to each other, causing constant pain, numbness and tingling in the sole, which makes it hard for the patient to flex the joint in the knee.

Externally, Becker's cyst is not always found, but when a large size is reached, one can see the formation in the form of a tumor that feels dense and elastic to the touch. When palpation is a weak soreness.

Becker's cyst is dangerous for its complications.

In the event of a rupture, the fluid will penetrate into the muscles, leading to severe swelling and pain in the area of the posterior surface.

There are cases when the cyst presses on the veins, because of what stagnation of blood is formed, the development of phlebitis, and in the future - the formation of blood clots. The process is dangerous because if at least one detaches, then it directly "migrates" into the lungs, causing a dangerous disease for a person - thromboembolism of the pulmonary artery.

Rarely, but there is the development of necrosis and osteomyelitis, which arises from the syndrome of compression, gross violation of the metabolic processes in the soft tissue and bones.

To put the final diagnosis, it is necessary, in addition to examination by an orthopedist and traumatologist, to use MRI and ultrasound of the joint. As a rule, surgical intervention is required when the Becker cyst is removed. Treatment with folk remedies is possible only at the initial stage, when there is no pain when walking.

To achieve the optimal result, it is recommended to apply crushed leaves of burdock and celandine in the form of a compress.

The miracle cure is also the following. The surface of the body should be smeared with honey, attach a cabbage leaf and bandage it. Doing this operation for a week and a half and small cysts can dissolve without surgery. This - the best folk recipes for treatment with such a cyst.

One of the most common diseases was Nevus Becker, which manifests itself in the appearance of hyperpigmented spots that have increased hairiness. Usually at the initial stage there is a small, brownish stain on which, slowly, about 2 years, the pigmentation begins to increase gradually, it creeps away, and hair begins to grow in large quantities on the surface. As a result, a benign pigmented spot with a hair covering is obtained.

When this type of formation appears, it is recommended to consult a doctor immediately, since such neoplasms always require alertness and attention. As a rule, the patient is recommended to remove Nevus Becker, since under adverse circumstances the phenomenon can develop into a malignant tumor.

The earlier a patient gets rid of similar tumors, the better.
