Symptoms of sunstroke in children, what are they?
In summer, many parents through their fingers look at the fact that their children spend a long time on the street, the beach, in the courtyard - in general, in the fresh air. It would seem that this is bad? In general, nothing except for one extremely unpleasant thing - overheating of the body.
Another significant symptom of sunstroke is an increased body temperature. In especially severe cases, it can reach a level of 42 degrees, and this is an indication for an urgent hospitalization of the victim, since at such temperatures the symptoms of sunstroke in children are often accompanied by hallucinations, delirium, coma, often followed by death.
The infants are particularly vulnerable to sunstroke in the heat, as they have an unstable nervous system, and the mechanisms of thermoregulation in a small organism are not as well established as in an adult. Therefore, urgently seek the help of a doctor if on a walk or at home you notice the following symptoms of sunstroke in children:
- Lethargy;
- Nausea;
- Complaints of a headache;
- Fever;
- General malaise;
- Difficulty breathing;
- Loss of consciousness, full or partial.
So, the child has a sunstroke. First aid will also be to release him from excess clothing. Instead, the best way is to wrap the baby's body with a wet sheet. After this, it is necessary to restore the water-salt balance in the body. To do this, provide the baby with a copious drink. Only in any case not sweet juices or soda, it is best if it is not too cold ordinary drinking water. You can slightly acidify it with lemon juice. Or make a water-salt solution: half a teaspoon of salt diluted in three glasses of water. Give the child a drink of this drink, and then call the doctor.
