Supervisor - who it is, where it came from and why you need it

Supervisor. Who it is, it becomes clear not at once, since the word for the Russian language is new, unusual and is borrowed from a foreign lexicon. The meaning of such import of alien words becomes clear right away, as soon as one can figure out what is hidden behind such an unusual and respectable concept.

Abroad, this position exists long ago, and there is no longer a question: "Supervisor - who is this, and what does he do?". This is primarily due to the fact that in Western countries the market economy has existed for more than one and a half centuries, whereas in Russia and the CIS, the transformation from planned to competitive market was not so long ago, just some twenty years ago.

It is the emergence of mass producers, as well as those who sell their products, has led to the formation of the concept and, accordingly, the position of "supervisor of sales representatives". For the most part, a person occupying a given place provides the work of points selling products. If we simplify (so that there are no more special questions for the "supervisor - who it is and why it is needed"), it turns out that this is a simple manager, not tied to a specific point, but moving between them and organizing the work of the lowest, according to the hierarchy of the company, Workers.

If in the Russian reality this word evokes a certain respect, since it sounds very mysterious, then abroad it does not. There, this name is called the line managers of the lowest order, who have a minimum of privileges and maximum responsibility. The salary of such a person is based on the number of sales made on the ground under his control.

In Russia, the main distribution of such a position occurred in the sphere of mobile services. There are many small companies engaged in the implementation of sim-cards from certain operators through a network of small points per person, located in the busiest places in the city. Here the supervisor is a kind of unskilled laborer who most of the time is engaged in the distribution of promotional products and the installation of stands from which it will be distributed, and in the remaining hours he is looking for new people who will work at these points. At the same time, the salary of such a "leader" can sometimes be less than the standard rate of his subordinate, since the level and quantity of sales are rarely high.

When there is an interview for a supervisor, especially a small firm, you need to appear in the right light. First of all, one should illuminate one's skills as a leader, referring to past experience and, preferably, demonstrating its presence. Rational judgments and charisma are the main virtues when talking with the future boss, since many of them try to besiege the applicant in order to lower the salary bar. And most importantly, you should show your understanding of the position of the "supervisor" - who it is, what it does and what is needed. This will give you the opportunity to do your part-time work, but become a small, but still a leader.
