Summary "The Little Prince", the tales of Antoine de Saint-Exupery

It is very difficult to set out a brief summary, "The Little Prince" is a favorite tale of many people of our planet. Since its publication in 1943, it has been translated into 180 languages. Since the work is allegorical, every word is important in it. The author refers not so much to children as to the child in every reader.

The fairy tale "The Little Prince" is dedicated to the boy from whom the author's best friend Leon Werth grew up.

Summary. "Little Prince", from 1 to 9 chapter

The six-year-old was fond of books about animals and was impressed with the figure of the boa, swallowing the predator entirely. Inspired, he drew his drawing at number one, which adults took for the image of the hat, although it was a boa constrictor swallowing a whole elephant. It was necessary especially for dull adults to portray a boa constrictor with an elephant inside in a section. But the adults still did not like it, they advised to pay more attention to geography and other lessons. The hero ceased to believe in himself and was tired of talking to adults. Instead of the artist, he became a pilot, and geography came in handy.

Meeting, as it seemed to him, intelligent adults, he tested them using the figure number one, but all of them again took the boa constrictor for the hat, which finally disappointed the hero.

6 years ago he had to make an emergency landing in the Sahara desert, where there was not a soul in the circle of thousands of miles. But in the morning he was awakened by a little man and asked to draw lamb. In the figure at number one, he instantly identified the boa constrictor, but rejected the sheep, unexpectedly rejoicing at the box with holes, in which the lamb necessary to him supposedly was.

The pilot learns that the Little Prince came to Earth from his tiny asteroid B-612, where he left three volcanoes and his favorite rose, which he had quarreled on the eve.

Summary. "The Little Prince", from 10th to 17th chapter

His wanderings began with neighboring asteroids. On the first he met the king without his subjects, on the second with an ambitious man without admirers, on the third with a man drinking from shame caused by his own drunkenness. On the fourth planet, a business man thought the stars senseless. On the fifth lived a lamp-worker lighting and extinguishing his lantern every minute, because day and night on his planet began to replace each other faster. This seemed to the Little Prince the most logical and not so selfish, unlike the actions of the others, the adults he met. The geographer, who inhabits the sixth planet, was waiting for travelers who, he thought, would bring him information about the world. He did not even know anything about his own planet, but advised him to go to Earth. So the boy was in the Sahara desert.

Summary. "The Little Prince", from 11 to 27 chapters

At first a little wanderer met a snake, who promised to help him return to his planet as soon as he wants. Then he saw a garden full of exactly the same roses, although his favorite flower urged that one such in the world.

Met him on the way to the Fox, who refused to play until the Little Prince made it tame. The Fox explained that, after the ritual of domestication, they would become special to each other, then the boy guessed that the rose, apparently, had tamed it. The Fox confirmed this, since the prince is ready to give all his soul to her, and added that you can see with your heart what you do not see with your eyes. And that now he is forever responsible for those who have tamed it.

But soon it's time for the prince to return home. Finally, pouring like a bell, he said that now, looking at the stars, the pilot will hear their laughter, because on one of them the Little Prince lives and laughs.

A small yellow snake flashed at the boy's feet. Slowly and noiselessly, he began to fall on the sand ...

The next morning the pilot did not find the boy's body. He fixed the engine and returned. Six years passed, but the hero could not be comforted. Of course, he believed that the kid returned home, but, looking at the sky, he heard not only the silvery laughter of the stars, but also their crying, depending on whether he was worried about the Little Prince or rejoiced. Leon Werth appealed to all who meet the boy, to inform and so comfort his sorrow.

Saint Exupéry, whose "Little Prince" is parsed by readers around the world for quotations, has invested in his creation a profound meaning that does not fit into the framework of a brief summary. I want to believe that someone who has run through his eyes will want to read the entire fairy tale entirely.
