Pushkin takes us to the year 1598, February 20 turned a month, as Boris Godunov, together with his sister, locked himself in a monastery, hiding from worldly worries. People are crying and asks him to ascend to the throne, but he stubbornly refuses to take responsibility for the whole of Russia. Boyarin Shuisky has figured out Godunov's skillful game, which refuses to reign for decency, and then will still become king, otherwise, why did he have to kill the prince, whose death the "crafty courtier" accuses Boris of.

Summary of Boris Godunov. The Birth of False Dimitry

As Shuisky predicted, Godunov ascended the throne, it has been four years since he ruled the state. Meanwhile, Father Pimen in the cell of Chudov Monastery completes the chronicle, in which he tells of a terrible sin - the murder of Tsarevich Dimitri. Together with him there lives a young monk Grigory, who languishes in prison and complains about the monastic life. He asks Pimen to tell him about the death of the heir to the throne and he told him that now the country is ruled by the regicide.

A brief summary of Boris Godunov tells us that the monk Gregory runs away from the monastery, conceived to become a "tsar in Moscow." Everywhere they are looking for him, they sent out messengers all over the country with a description of appearance, but the monk is successfully slipping out of the hands of the guards. Grigory Otrepyev makes his way to the Lithuanian border to ask for help.

In the house of Basil Shuisky Afanasy Pushkin is visiting, who brings news from nephew Gavrila Pushkin, who lives in Krakow - at the court of the Polish king appeared Dimitri, the tsar's boy allegedly killed by Godunov. The boyar Shuisky immediately reports this news to the tsar. He, hearing about this, gets agitated and asks if the prince is really dead. Shuisky claims that he had recently seen Dimitri's body in the cathedral, Boris Godunov calmed down on it. The poem then carries the reader to Krakow, where the impostor gathers troops.

The Trial of the False Dimitry

Grigory managed to sentence future supporters, each of them having promised something: retribution to the disgraced servants, liberties to the Cossacks, and Chernysky to the Jesuit - the subordination of Russia to the Vatican. In the fall of 1604, False Dimitry approaches the Lithuanian border, he is tormented by conscience, that he leads enemies to his homeland, but immediately calms himself that sin will not fall on him, but on the tsar, who deceived the throne.

The summary of Boris Godunov tells about the military campaign of the impostor. The king orders to gather people for service, but the news of Tsarevich Dimitri sow discord among the people. Grigory Otrepiev occupies the city outside the city, smashes Russian troops, even his own failure at Sevsk does not frighten him, the impostor gathers the soldiers and goes on.

The Massacre of the Godunovs

Godunov is dissatisfied with the boyars and wants to put the wise leader Basmanov, but suddenly becomes numb. Boris realizes that he is dying, therefore he blesses the reign of his beloved son Theodore, takes an oath from the court that they will serve the prince by faith and truth. Basmanov Theodore was appointed military commander, but he switched to the side of False Dimitry. Gavrila Pushkin appeals to the new king to appeal to citizens.

The poem "Boris Godunov" ends with the people throwing the cry to kill Godunov's son. His house was taken into custody, Boris's children, Xenia and Theodore, were sitting by the window. Some people feel sorry for them, because even though the father was evil, they are not guilty of anything. In the house there is a woman's cry, the noise of a fight, after that the Boyars of Mosals goes out on the porch and proclaims that Maria Godunova and Theodore poisoned themselves with poison. He calls to welcome the new Tsar Dimitri, but the people are silent in horror.
