Styles of drawing, or How do artists look at the world?

Artists of all time and people painted only what they wanted. They depicted the world on canvases as only they see it. To convey their feelings, emotions, colors, shades and play of shadows to other people is very problematic, so they created new styles of drawing and technique. Of course, you can not distribute all the art into several categories, but it helps to see the overall picture and create the right impression. As in the case of clothes, in the visual arts there is a fashion for certain styles that change from time to time. Let's see what major categories they are represented to date.

Abstractionism

This direction is not recognized by many ordinary inhabitants, because in the pictures one can not see the shapes and colors that are customary for us. But it is on this and emphasize the artists. The term itself in translation means removal or distraction from reality. The main goal is to achieve harmony in the shapes and shades of colors, thus causing the contemplator certain associations. The founder was Vasily Kandinsky, but perhaps the most famous work of art was the "Black Square" by Kazimir Malevich.

Impressionism

The drawing styles of this direction recreate impressions from what they saw, the form does not matter. Pictures, as a rule, are created by vigorous strokes, and small details are practically absent. The direction was born in France in the late 19th century. The main thing for the artist was not what he draws, but how it looks on the canvas. The problem of this style can be called excessive positivity and a complete lack of social problems, as a result, it led to a split among the Impressionists.

A prominent representative was Claude Monet ("The Impression, the Rising Sun"),

Surrealism

A distinctive feature of this style are allusions and incredible combinations of shapes and sizes of objects. Those who brought this ideology into art were Andre Breton, and the most striking follower was Salvador Dali. If you describe the picture in a nutshell, then they are more like something between the dream and reality. The styles of drawing in this direction were far from rational aesthetics, since the usual details appear before us in an extended, enlarged or too reduced form, not to mention the fact that the combination of them is absurd.

Realism

The styles of drawing from which we started are far from reality, but the most common direction is still realism.

With him begins training in the school of the arts, this ability to display on the sheet of paper what we see in the right proportions and in natural colors.

Hyperrealism

But modern drawing styles, hyperrealism, for example, are so believable that they look more like photographs than drawing. It is this moment that makes you die at the sight of pictures written by representatives of this direction. On portraits you can see every hair, the slightest glare in the eyes and even wrinkles. And from the city landscapes goose bumps run down the body. Now you know what are the styles of drawing, and can safely go to the exhibition, not being afraid to expose yourself as an absolute dilettante in this matter.
