Where does the songbird live?

Very diverse types of forests become home to thrushes after returning from wintering. However, the bird prefers places where spruce and juniper bushes predominate, but deciduous forests are also no exception. The most favorite for them can be forests of maple, alder and birch, pine and spruce, oak forests.

The largest number of these birds is observed on the territory of the Eurasian continent. Their habitats are located in the direction of the north to the East European crooked area, in the Urals they can be found up to the boundaries of birch forests. Steppes and forest-steppe are also not deprived of the thrush's attention, river floodplains among the forests serve as a road for them in these areas. The bird is not afraid of mountains. You can say that they prefer more natural areas, such as where a person is rarely. Although recently there is a tendency for the settlement of urban parks to be inhabited by these inhabitants, especially if there are spruce. This phenomenon is typical for Western Europe, for Russia this is still a rarity.

There is an active population of singing thrushes of suburban parts, parks of forest type. These birds perfectly co-exist with other representatives of their species, such as blackbird, shark, white-beaver, mountain ash. Of all the individuals of their family, only the songbird has the property to go deep into large forests, but its nests can still be seen on their outskirts and glades. The most favorite sites in the forests are more humid. He does not like the bird of small desert places in them, does not have the habit of nesting in the agro-cities, but during the flights can use the given terrain for his food.

An excellent thrush song

There are a variety and amazing voices of birds, singing thrush among them all stands out especially. Connoisseurs of such beauty often argue among themselves about who sings better - a nightingale or thrush. Supporters always have this and this bird. However, the voice of the singing thrush sounds more mysterious and unusual.

His song can be described as a combination of short and infrequent whistles and trills that do not sound very sonorous. Each element in them all the time repeats for a long time. Very often they interlace their singing with the songs of other birds, which sounds very playful.

Behind this amazing occupation of the singing thrush can be found on the very tops of tall trees, singing songs does not bother him all day. However, the best singing is in the morning and evening hours. There is a certain cyclicity in the intensity of thrush songs, a small break is observed in early June, the next recession can be seen in mid-July.

Many people say that in singing thrush sometimes you can distinguish words that are repeated all the time. And what exactly does he say? There are different answers to this question, since everyone perceives the song in different ways.

The life of a song thrush

During their nesting, birds live in pairs, after the end of this period of life they try to stay in flocks.

After the arrival of the females, the males begin to look for their chosen one. In order for the lady to choose him, a wedding dance takes place, during which he lowers his wings and fluffs feathers. If the female begins to dance in response, then it means that courtship is accepted. After the pair was formed, the female searches for a suitable place for the nest. And in 7 days joint construction of the future house begins.

The construction of a nest can be called a real construction, since for this purpose branches, twigs, grass, lichen and a lot of moss are used. After the main frame of the nest is built, the plastering process begins. The inner surface is covered with a mixture of earth, clay, trunks of trees and saliva. After all has dried, the female lays up to 6 eggs, they have a blue color with black spots. The mother usually does the incubation, sometimes the male replaces it so that she ate. The chicks appear after two weeks, and the parents together produce food for them. Even after the babies first fly out of the nest, they are unable to feed themselves, and the female and male help them in this.

The singing thrushes begin the second clutch approximately in the middle of June, the number of eggs in it is slightly less than in the first.

The nest of a singing thrush can usually be seen on trees among strong branches, on bushes, on fallen trunks, on windmills and sometimes on the ground. It is located not less than 2 and not more than 10 meters from the ground, near this place there are often fringes and glades.

Desperate brave souls

The song thrush bravely defends its nest. Noticing the possible danger, he immediately begins to attack. In the event that the enemy is large, the bird pretends to be wounded and, jumping over the ground, leads the predator to a safe distance. Many tales and stories have been written in which similar situations are described.

Thrush in the cinema

In the 70s of the last century, a film was produced with the title "The Songbird was a Thrush." The protagonist named Gia plays in the orchestra on an unusual instrument - timpani. His sound can be heard only a few times, at the beginning of the play and at the end. It is clear that a musician does not need to be constantly with him, and in the intervals between his work he manages to arrange his hectic life. Perhaps, the film was named so only because its creators found the similarity of the main character to the life of the song thrush.

These birds are known to almost every person, their amazing singing fascinates even the musicians. They also benefit nature, destroying a huge number of pests.
