Slowly progressive hypertension: symptoms, stages, prevention measures

Causes of hypertension are still heated debate. It is clear only that with this pathology arterial pressure rises. Scientists are divided into adherents of the three most common theories:

  • Hereditary predisposition in combination with environmental factors;
  • Mental overstrain, constant stress, inability to calmly treat external stimuli;
  • Overweight and excessive salt intake.

All theories have many arguments for and many problem points. Most likely, the truth somewhere in the middle, that is, combines all of the above factors in one way or another.

Hypertension can be benign (slow progressing) and malignant. Most often it occurs in people aged 30 to 60 years. The appearance of the first signs of this disease at a young age is a very formidable symptom, which suggests that a comprehensive examination should be carried out immediately.

Slowly progressive hypertension

It is conditionally divided into three stages.

The first (light) is usually not considered dangerous. The upper systolic pressure rises no more than up to 180 mm Hg. The lower diastolic - up to 105 mm Hg. Pressure rises only occasionally, relatively quickly returning to normal. But these are the first symptoms of the disease, and if you do not take at least preventive measures, there will be a deterioration. This stage is characterized by the following symptoms: decreased mental performance, tinnitus, sleep disturbances and headaches. With weak blood vessels, nosebleeds are possible.

In the second stage, the pressure reaches 110 by 200 and does not drop to normal values. The following symptoms are observed. There is sclerosis of the vessels, while slight changes in the heart, kidneys and retina.

The third stage is characterized by even higher figures of pressure (115-130 at 220-230), which does not decrease even under the action of drugs. Changes in all organs are much more pronounced, there are serious violations of kidney, heart, brain. There are circulatory disorders, azotemia, pareses and paralysis, hemorrhages in the retina of the eye are possible. Some organs can be hit harder, others less. Depending on this, slowly progressing hypertension is divided into such forms:

  • Heart;
  • Cerebral;
  • Renal;
  • Mixed.

At any age, if there are any problems with well-being, you need to sometimes measure the pressure. That is, every home must have a tonometer. Unfortunately, slowly progressing hypertension can proceed at the beginning practically asymptomatically. But at least some barely noticeable signs should be. It can be:

  • tachycardia;
  • Redness of the face;
  • Flies before the eyes ;
  • Swelling of the hands, feet, eyelids, puffiness on the face;
  • Sweating;
  • Numbness of the extremities.

If any of these signs appear at least occasionally, you need to pay attention to it and, possibly, start treatment.

Malignant hypertension

It is a rapidly progressing and very dangerous form. It can last from six months to two years. The kidneys are affected, anemia begins, and ends very quickly with azotemic uremia, complete kidney damage. Until recently, this form of hypertension did not work. Now there are drugs that can change the diagnosis for a more sparing ("slowly progressing hypertension").

If you have any suspicions of increased blood pressure, you should immediately be examined. And if the arterial hypertension is diagnosed , treatment should be started immediately. In time, the begun therapy, regular intake of medicines, observance of the rules of a healthy lifestyle can delay the development of the disease for a long time.
