Is the cyst of the brain dangerous in newborns?

Cyst of the brain in newborns is formed as a result of the accumulation of fluid filling the place of dead tissue in various parts of the brain. Education is a ball, filled with water.

In some cases, it can be formed in the region of the walls of the membrane that are stuck together as a result of the inflammatory process. In such a coherent cavity, through a tiny slit, liquid enters, forming a cyst. It can appear in any part of the brain and have one or more formations with one or both sides of the head.

Cyst of the brain in newborns is of three types: vascular plexuses, arachnoid and subependimal.

The cyst of the vascular plexus in most cases is revealed in the child at the stage of its intrauterine formation. Education, which has arisen at an early pregnancy, is considered quite normal and, as a rule, usually disappears at a certain period.

The causes of the formations that appeared at a later stage, even after the birth of the child, can be infections and various inflammations carried by a woman during pregnancy. The cyst of the brain in newborns can be the result of severe labor and a heavy pregnancy. Quite often, the cause of the development of cysts is the usual herpes.

An arachnoid or cerebrospinal cyst that can form anywhere in the brain has various sizes and shapes. It arises against the backdrop of inflammatory processes, for example, meningitis, circulatory disorders of the brain of the head, as well as trauma.

Arachnoidal formation has a progressive character, eventually increases in volume, exerting pressure on the nearby centers of the brain (motor, visual and others). In newborns with this education, the following manifestations may be present:

- violation of coordination of movement;

- profuse regurgitation;

- slowed down physical and psychomotor development.

The subependymal cyst of the brain in newborns is an education that requires constant observation. The main cause of its appearance is the inadequate circulation of the brain of the head in the region of the ventricles. The lack of oxygen provokes the death of tissues, in the place of which a cavity is formed, which is subsequently filled with liquid.

With the progressive nature of the formation, magnetic resonance imaging is prescribed several times a year. The rapid growth of the cyst causes an increase in the pressure of the fluid formed in it. Liquid, putting pressure on the nearest tissues, changes their position, which can cause deterioration of the general condition, exacerbation of neurological symptoms and convulsions.

Diagnostics

The cyst of the brain in newborns is detected using ultrasound. Such research is completely harmless for the baby and does not carry any radiation load on the children's body. The first examination of the baby is done during intrauterine formation. The next study is conducted after birth, usually in a month.

Treatment

The vascular plexus cyst usually does not require treatment and spontaneously resolves in the first year after birth. In these cases it is necessary to identify and eliminate the cause of education.

Subependymal cysts also do not require intensive care. In this case, constant monitoring and some examinations are necessary.

Arachnoid cysts require special attention and radical measures. Such cysts do not dissolve independently and actively progress. The child should be constantly monitored by a neurologist, and he often needs surgical treatment according to the indications . Cysts of the brain folk remedies are not treated.
