The village of Naurskaya (Chechen Republic): national composition and population. What happened in the village of Naurskaya

For a long time the Chechen Republic has been a rather painful topic in our country. The military conflict, which once took many lives of Russian military and civilians, now seems just an episode in history. But just a month ago, the village of Naurskaya (Chechen Republic) became the epicenter of bloody events that reminded people that bandit groups only suspended their activities for a while and at any time are ready to again transgress the established borders.

Where is the village of Naurskaya?

The settlement is located on the bank of the Terek River. We can say that it is surrounded by gardens and vast vineyards. The village of Naurskaya is located almost fifty kilometers from Grozny, and there is a railway station nearby. The settlement is considered quite large and has its history from the middle of the eighteenth century.

The village gave its name to the whole area and became its center. Now the Naursky district is considered one of the most economically developed. There are numerous factories and factories for the production of juices and canned goods. Local farmers have at their disposal eight thousand hectares of land.

Population of the village: the number and dynamics of growth

If we draw conclusions about the demographic situation in the settlement, based on the dynamics of population growth, then we can say that the village of Naurskaya is successfully developing. According to the latest information, almost ten thousand people live here. The average annual increase in the population is 200 people. And in the settlement a fairly high percentage of fertility.

It should be noted that in the twenties of the last century the village of Naurskaya numbered a little more than four thousand people. From that moment the population steadily increased, insignificant losses were noted in the eighties and the first decade of the twenty-first century.

National composition of the population

Russians and Chechens have lived in friendship for a long time, therefore the national composition of the village residents is quite varied. How many Russians now live in the village of Naurskaya? The total number of the Russian-speaking population is a little over one thousand people. As a percentage, this figure is about fifteen percent. Naturally, most of the stanitsi are Chechen by nationality. They are almost seven thousand people, which is just over seventy-six percent.

In addition, Turks, Rutulians, Avars and Kumyks live in the village. Slightly more than three percent of the surveyed residents did not specify their nationality.

The village of Naurskaya, the Chechen Republic: education

In the second half of the eighteenth century, Catherine II ordered several groups of Cossacks to be transported to the Terek, which were to protect the territories from the mountaineers' raids. Thus, there were Volga and Don Cossacks in the village of Naurskaya and there was the first written mention of this settlement in official government papers.

Historical milestones of Naurskaya development

The history of the village is rich in various events. Here there was Pugachev, and during the Russo-Turkish war she was assaulted by the Crimean Khan. But always the Cossacks did their duty and did not allow the village to become a bargaining chip in any historical events.

The nineteenth century was the heyday of the village. New houses, a church, an infirmary were built everywhere and a railway branch was laid. Initially, Naurskaya was noted for its wealth; by the end of the nineteenth century, there were about thirty industrial establishments that actively traded.

At the beginning of the twentieth century more than eighty percent of Russians lived in the village. Naursky district was considered one of the most successful in all senses. But the nineties disrupted the habitual way of life of local residents and brought grief to their homes.

Naurskaya: end of the twentieth century

Armed Chechen militants have repeatedly carried out their sweep operations in the Naursky district. Mass shootings in the village of Naurskaya repeatedly became the theme of television reports. Targetedly the militants destroyed the Russian population, as well as all those who supported him. The list of crimes committed against village stooges can throw even a seasoned man into shock. Whole families were shot and burned, someone was taken away from the village, and these people never returned. Many were slaughtered, and before that they were bullied.

During this period a large number of Russians fled the village, and those who remained in Naurskaya repeatedly asked the government of the Russian Federation to include them in the Stavropol Territory.

Stanitsa during the First and Second Chechen War

During the period of military operations in Chechnya, the Russian population in stanitsas and other settlements significantly decreased. Sociologists have calculated that in the Naursky region the number of Russians has decreased almost fivefold.

Conflicts on the basis of interethnic discord became a natural continuation of hostilities. It is known that even in the year 2000 the massacres took place over the Russian-speaking population in the village of Naurskaya and other settlements of the district. It is not surprising that the Russians returned here rather reluctantly. Many of them could not cope with the heavy memories of the death of their loved ones and decided not to return to their former places.

The village in our days

In recent years, the village of Naurskaya lives a peaceful life and is successfully developing. Temples and many other structures, necessary for normal human life, are being rebuilt. Already almost seventeen years in the area of the settlement the military unit is based. The village of Naurskaya became a place where the battalion of the 46th separate brigade of operational assignment of the internal troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation is stationed on a permanent basis.

Brief information about the 46th separate order of Zhukov brigade of operational assignment

This battalion is unique in its essence, because it controls practically the entire territory of the Chechen Republic. Its direct responsibilities are to protect the territory from militant groups and to prevent terrorist acts. In addition to Naurskaya, the 46th Brigade is located in five other stanitsas and in Grozny. An interesting feature of the battalion is that in its composition there are groups formed on a national basis. This allows more efficient service and combat tasks.

March 2017: an incident in the village of Naurskaya

Literally a month ago, the population of our country was shocked by the insolent and unprecedented case of militant attacks on the military unit. Many media reported on what happened in the village of Naurskaya.

The militants attacked the village and the military camp there on the night of March 24, 2017. According to information from official sources, the bandit group, armed with firearms and grenades, attacked the military unit with the aim of seizing the headquarters, dormitories and a warehouse with ammunition. It is worth noting that the gang acted fairly confidently and in a coordinated manner.

The group consisted of eight militants who hoped to take advantage of the surprise effect and carry out the plan. But they were prevented by a military outfit, which was discovered in time by the group. Between the military and the attackers, a shootout ensued, which lasted for twenty minutes. The whole part was raised by alarm, and the attack was repulsed. But Rosgvardia suffered losses in the form of six dead and three seriously wounded soldiers.

This incident was the first such attack in the new history of the Chechen Republic and seriously worried the public. Already, a lot of rumors are circulating around the village and the attack, many associate this incident with the aggravation of the situation in the Middle East and the role that Russia plays in the military operations in Syria.

The consequences of the attack in the village of Naurskaya

It is worth noting that the soldiers of Rosgvardia managed to capture five militants, but two of the group managed to leave. Now all forces are thrown at their search not only in Chechnya, but also in Ingushetia and Dagestan. At the same time, operational groups from Moscow were sent to strengthen the stanitsa. Employees of the FSB conduct a separate investigation into the attack and started a criminal case on several counts. At this stage, there are more than five.

It has already been proved that the captured militants are involved in a terrorist group banned on the territory of the Russian Federation, the "Islamic State" (it is also called the IG). The head of Chechnya is sure that such incidents will increase, since the beginning of 2017, the attack in the village of Naurskaya became the third such case. However, he was remembered as the most bloody and organized.

The representatives of the IG already penetrated the North Caucasus several years ago and conducted their secret criminal activities. In the current year, several groups have been discovered on the territory of Russia, many people have fallen under investigation. The media believe that the attack on Rosgvardia in the village was an attempt by militants to declare themselves and frighten the public. Indeed, some time ago, the IG announced that the Russian Federation would choke on the bloody terrorist attacks for assisting the Syrian government in conducting the counter-terrorist operation. Perhaps the attempt to seize the military unit was only a single instance that will not happen again. But the probability is high that the incident is a carefully planned action, which is part of a large and complex mechanism.

Situation in the page at the moment

After the incident, the situation in the Chechen Republic is tightly controlled by the authorities, military enhancement is introduced and work is being done to prevent terrorism. In the village now reigns peace and civilians feel themselves under the protection of the troops of Rosgvardia.

It is interesting that the village of Naurskaya has always been considered one of the quietest places in the republic. Despite the fact that once the locals were attacked by bandit groups, the bank of the Terek was among the safest areas. There has never been a concentration of militants and fierce battles have not been fought, as in other regions of the Chechen Republic. Therefore, the incident was unexpected and strange in March this year.

The media have repeatedly cited data that militants from Syria are based in the area of the village of Naurskaya. But in fact, this information was unconfirmed, and now in the Chechen Republic the situation is under the personal control of Ramzan Kadyrov.
