Appearance of the Order

Order of Marshal Zhukov was made of silver. It was based on a cross with oval joints. The relief rays also moved away in all directions. In the center was a medallion. Six months later Vasilenko returned to the front. At that time, their entire brigade was re-formed, so Gavriil Tarasovich is in the Caucasus as part of the Tenth Guards Corps. In August of the 42nd Brigade Vasilenko goes on the offensive. During the attack they managed to get the Terek station, neutralize about ten tanks of the German army, and also take a couple of hundreds of prisoners of war. Thanks to their offensive, Naursky district was practically liberated from enemies. During this period, Vasilenko is already a lieutenant colonel of the army, but that's when he gets his second serious injury. He can not return to the front again until a year later.

In 1943 he was appointed commander of one of the Guards divisions. His unit was able to prove itself well enough. They made a great contribution to the confrontation in the Kuban. However, his service did not always go well. In 1944, he was removed from office for an unsuccessful offensive. A year later he was able to regain commander's rank. For all his great military merits, Gavriil Tarasovich received the Order of Georgy Zhukov.

The fighter pilot was awarded
