The building was built at a very fast pace - four floors a week. Builders hurried to quickly build the largest skyscraper in the world.

At that time, the tallest building was the architect Craig Severance. Now it's called Trump Building. But since Severance knew perfectly well what the height of the van Helen's building was, he immediately added a couple of feet to his structure and the title of the tallest building in the world remained behind him .

But van Helen did not want to yield to his rival. He received permission from local authorities to build a spire on the roof of the building at a height of 38 meters. And after that, the Chrysler Building in New York had the title of the tallest building in the world for about a year.
