Shcherbinka Cemetery is one of the largest burial sites in Moscow

A relatively young and fairly large cemetery "Shcherbinka" is located in the south of Moscow, in the Podolsky district. The total area occupied by it is 90 hectares.

Construction of a cemetery

The cemetery consists of two parts - Central, older (the beginning of the burial - 1982), and the new - the Southern part, put into operation in 1997. The territory occupied by the sites is divided as follows: The central part occupies 60 hectares, and the South, where the areas under Buddhist (area 1.2 hectares) and Kurdish burials - 30 hectares are allocated. In 2014, it is planned to renovate and expand the territory of the 4 Moscow places of eternal rest, including the Shcherbinka cemetery. It will grow also due to the formation of new sites - Jewish and Muslim. Despite future improvements, the cemetery and today has an excellent material and technical base.

Structure of Shcherbinka

There is a modern churchyard in the forest. In addition, there are 56 water-filling columns, 175 cranes, 43 garbage places and, importantly, taking into account the remoteness of the location, the points for renting equipment, which makes it possible to care for graves. Now the cemetery "Shcherbinka", or rather the Buddhist section of the Southern part, has Columbus, designed for 1500 urns. There is a morgue and a crematorium. Of course, on the territory of this place of eternal rest there is a chapel of the Life-Giving or the Old Testament Trinity belonging to the Zakharya Church . All necessary ceremonies are held here. In the very near future in the village of Shcherbinka, in honor of which the cemetery is named, there should be a mosque that will make the Muslim rite complete.
