Jur-Jur waterfall. Crimea, Ukraine

The nature of the Crimea is truly magnificent. And it's hard to argue with that. If you have never seen it, it's worth visiting there urgently.

Section 1. Jur-Jur waterfall. General description .

If you go deeper into history, you can quickly learn that the name of the Jur-Jur waterfall in translation from Armenian means "water-water". A few centuries ago, the ancient Greeks called it Kremasto Nero or "water hanging in the air." Why? The thing is that it really does not rumble, but quietly murmurs, slowly draining down. Sometimes it even seems that his sliding streams whisper a melody, a long forgotten song of the mountain edge. And later, as if coming to oneself, the drops break down and immediately break into the tiniest ice dust, sparkling in the sun with a multicolored rainbow.

This is perhaps the most famous and one of the most powerful sources of the Crimean peninsula. From a fifteen-meter height, the fan-shaped stream gradually descends along the juicy, slightly velvety grass, while remaining in contact with its base. It's hard to imagine that the water flow is about 270 liters per second.

The waterfall originates in a shallow gorge called Haphal, from which the Ulu-Uzen river originates, and a powerful water flow flows between the two main Alushta jays: Demerdzhi and Karabi.

You can get to Djur-Djoura by a picturesque forest road, having arrived from Alushta by a trip to the village of General. Not so long ago, no fee was charged for the entrance to this territory, however, trying to preserve this nature monument for descendants, the local administration decided to create a small reserve here. Henceforth, anyone who wants to admire the silver streams of water should purchase a symbolic ticket, and all the proceeds go to infrastructure development.

Section 2. Jur-Jur waterfall. Legends of the source .

It should be noted that the waterfalls in the Crimea are quite common, tk. There are many deep rivers and streams, which, after all, fall into the sea. However, it is with Jur-Jur that a large number of legends are associated.

Perhaps the most romantic, perhaps, is a fairy tale about the tree of lovers. An ancient legend tells that once upon a glade the young couple passionately kissed. The boy and the girl were so absorbed in each other that they did not notice how the gods began to observe them. The last, shaken by the beauty of what is happening, decided to capture such a picture for ages.

Particularly attentive tourists immediately notice the "kissing" plants, and if you look closely, you can see that in fact the "guy" kisses his girlfriend is not at the lips, but in the chest.
