Sergei Yesenin, "Pugachev": a brief summary of the dramatic poem

The Pugachev uprising left a significant mark in Russian history. True, many specialists give him completely ambiguous assessments. Let's consider the topic "S. Yesenin, "Pugachev": a short summary "and let's pay attention to how the events of that time are watched by the great poet. The work, by the way, supports the idea of a "good king".

Pugachev

So, before us is a work written by Sergei Yesenin. "Pugachev," whose brief content will now be considered, is a poem in several chapters. Each of them describes the most interesting events, practically corresponding to historical chronology.

Let's see where Esenin started his work. Poem "Pugachev" first draws us the image of the protagonist, who arrives in Yaik and in conversation with the local watchman (Cossack) learns about the dreams and hopes of the people for a new king who could give him the will.

This idea of a warrior and a rebel by nature captivates him so much that he decides to create his own forces to realize this unrealizable dream. Subtletly noted by Sergei Yesenin: Pugachev (a short content of the poem just about this directly) appeals for help to the Kalmyks, trying to persuade them to provide him with an army for the campaign. But it's still a long way to the end.

"The peasant" king

If you analyze the work that Sergei Yesenin wrote, the poem "Pugachev" clearly expresses the people's dreams of a "good" tsar at that time. In this sense, an analogy is made with Peter III, which, perhaps, could give people relative freedom. But, as it seems in the modern perspective, all these thoughts are the purest water utopia.

At first everything is as it should be. To Pugachev adjoins Ataman Kirpichnikov, and then the escaped convict Chlopush. It is from his filing that Pugachev begins to be dominated by the idea of a "peasant" tsar. Hlopusha, however, demands that Ufa be seized to support the rebels with artillery.

There is still a certain ataman Zarubin, a master in the field of enticement on the side of the insurgents. Thanks to his efforts, entire garrisons surrender without a fight and join a riot. But the main danger is yet to come.

Strife in the camp of Pugachev

Over time, it becomes clear that the rebels do not have everything as simple and harmonious as it might seem at first sight. Some Cottage Cheese, supported by Kryamin, is clearly dissatisfied with the state of affairs, and is increasingly inclined to think of giving Pugachev to the tsar's troops (apparently for a reasonably high reward, and not for conviction).

It is these two who contribute to the fact that in a fairly strong and organized army begins panic. And it, as you know, does not lead to anything good. And it happens. The army, together with its leader, ceases to exist.

And what about the end?

But how does Yesenin finish his poem? Pugachev (the short content of the work was considered above) becomes a character that symbolizes the will of the Russian people to throw off the shackles. Naturally, his fate at that time could not have developed in a different way. This is evidenced by the last lines of the work, in which the reader sees only the weeping trees and the melancholy of the Russian steppe and solonchaks. Alas, the dying protagonist, in fact, is just a loner who can not stand up for an idea in the fight against the whole empire.
