Samara theaters: list, information about the leading theaters and their repertoire

Samara theaters like to visit not only residents of the city, but also its guests. Among the troupes there are dramatic, puppet, TYuZ, musical and educational. Some have existed for many years, and some are quite young. All of them are worthy of attention and have their fans.

List of theaters

In Samara, a fairly large number of theaters. Each of them has its own repertoire.

Drama theaters

The most numerous group consists of drama theaters of Samara. All of them are interesting and have their own specifics. But the most important, famous and oldest among them is the Maxim Gorky Drama Theater. He opened his doors to the first spectators in the middle of the 19th century.

His repertoire includes the following productions:

  • "History of the horse."
  • "The Shawshank Redemption".
  • Bullets over Broadway.
  • "Lie detector".
  • "Ladybugs".
  • "Strange Mrs. Savage."
  • "Tomorrow was a war."

Opera Theatre

Musical theaters of Samara are few. There are only two of them. Musical Theater for Young People and the Opera and Ballet Theater. The latter is one of the largest in the country. It was opened in 1921. Today, his troupe employs nineteen honored artists of Russia and five folk.

Puppet Theatre

Children's theaters of Samara are also not numerous. There are only four of them. The most important representative of this group is the Puppet Theater. The official date of its creation is considered to be 1932. It was then that the legendary Leningrad puppeteer Evgeni Demmeni arrived in Samara. He taught the artists to work with puppets.

Educational theaters

Educational theaters of Samara differ from others in that here performances are not played by professional actors, but only future ones: children or students.

There are three educational theaters in the city:

  • Workshop of Sergei Levin.
  • "Plasticine rain" (studio).
  • Theater at the Academy of Culture.

The latter is the most popular of them. As actors and directors, as well as doukoperators, decorators, make-up artists, costumers and illuminators, the students of the Academy of Culture of the city act here. Performances here are from October until June, while the academic year lasts within the walls of the institute.
