And there is something to see here: the magnificent Spa Park, the Lake of Saki , the Holy Ilyinsky temple, the historical museum and many other interesting places, which we will discuss in this article.

Features of the wind and temperature regime contribute to excellent aeration of the territory and are favorable for leisure and recreation. In summer, the average temperature is quite comfortable - optimal +23.5 ° C, and in winter it does not drop below +1 ° C. The average annual water temperature is +17 ° C.

On the territory of the city there are fourteen sanatorium-and-spa institutions, fine boarding houses and hotels, well-groomed beaches. Saki offers its guests excellent opportunities for recreation and entertainment. There are many cozy cafes, bars, restaurants, discos where interesting shows are held, dance groups and pop performers perform.

Saki: attractions

Acquaintance with interesting places of the city we will start from the famous park, located on the same name street, which is very proud of the locals. It's hard to believe that even at the end of the 19th century the steppe stretched on this very place.

In 1890, the city authorities decided to plant the resort. The talented horticulturist PS Melnichenko laid the Spa Park in 1891. He managed to create, it would seem, impossible - to make to grow a variety of trees on saline soils.

The first artesian well was drilled in the city, planted saplings, artificial ponds were created - and in just two years an oasis of shade and coolness appeared in the hot steppe. There are three lakes in the park. One of them is Swan, the other two are remarkable in that they repeat the outlines of the Azov and Black Seas.

The earth, which was liberated during the creation of reservoirs, was used to build an original hill on which planted deciduous and coniferous shrubs. A total of 8,700 trees and shrubs of 78 species resistant to drought were planted in three years, from Europe, the Mediterranean, Japan and China.

Today, the park can be divided into two parts: an old one with an area of 15 hectares, which was laid in 1890-1892, and a new one, occupying 8 hectares, founded in 1953. The resort park has about 100 species of trees and shrubs.

The beauty of flower beds and avenues is enlivened by more than thirty sculptural compositions. In addition, the park is the Obelisk of Glory with eternal fire and the Museum of Local Lore.

Memorial of Heroes of the Soviet Union

The inhabitants of the city under the name of Saki are caring and cherishing the memory of the heroes who fell during the war with fascist Germany. The sights associated with the victory of the Soviet people are always in perfect condition.

The memorial is located in the north-eastern part of the city. Here lie eight heroes of the Soviet Union, which were part of the 3rd motorized battalion of the Perekop tank corps. A group of servicemen under the command of sergeant NI Poddubny in April 1944 received an assignment to conduct reconnaissance on the right flank of the band of the offensive of the tank corps near the village of Ashag-Jamin (today it is the village of Heroic). After a fierce battle, the wounded soldiers were taken prisoner and shot.

The Holy Ilyinsky Temple

The author of the project of this church became the famous Russian architect Kh. K. Vasiliev. He built temples in Perekop, Alupka, Yanchokrak, Gurzuf. The choice of a place for a new church in the center of a crowded village was not chosen by chance. Here was built in 1894, the bell tower, to which the master conceived to add the building of the temple, combining both buildings with an identical pattern.

The architect conceived the temple as a sizeable structure. Church of St. Elijah was executed in the style of Russian-Byzantine architecture. During the Soviet era, the St. Ilyinsky temple was closed under a false pretension that the building had cracked and needed major repairs. Meanwhile, the cracks did not prevent the organization of a club in the room.

During this period, the church lost many decorative elements of the interior. The church was returned to the parishioners during the terrible years of the Second World War. Here again, divine services began to be held, which continue to this day. After 1990, the lost dome and four decorative heads of the church, interior decoration and paintings, carved iconostasis were restored.

Kara-Tobe

This ancient settlement is located on the outskirts. Saki (sights of ancient times are of special interest to tourists) - the old city. In the past, there was a Greek settlement here, the basis of which scientists refer to the IV. BC. E. Then it was called Evpatorion.

In the I century BC from the Kara-Tobey hill, the Scythians managed to expel the Greeks and create their own settlement here, albeit for a short time. After some time, the commander Diophantus defeated the Scythians, and the Greeks returned to the town. On the hill, in its very center, a donjon was built - a square two-story tower.

In the second half of the I century BC. E. North-west Crimea again moved to the Scythians. Very soon Tauride was conquered by the Roman troops of Tiberius Silvan, who were called to the aid of local residents. The Romans were not here for long. At the end of the 1st century Scythians return here. Their small village on top of the hill existed for several decades. At the beginning of the second century, residents leave Kara-Tobe, fearing the Sarmatians who invaded the Crimea.

In 2000, archaeological excavations were carried out at the Kara-Tobe site, and the International Center "Kara-Tobe" was established. The main part of the museum exposition consists of archaeological finds in the ancient settlement and Scythian necropolis. Well preserved Greek dishes, covered with black and red lacquer, unique "Megarian" bowls of delicate work. Nearby you can see the Scythian ceramics.

The museum exposition presents very rare, unique items. This is, first of all, a plaster cast from an antique vessel of silver, owned by a Roman jeweler. Mineral water pump room

In the middle of the last century, doctors Sak discovered a new natural remedy. From the well, which was drilled in 1956, the fountain of hot water (mineral water) began to beat. This slightly alkaline water contains many trace elements, some rare gases, nitrogen.

Due to this combination, life-giving moisture has medicinal properties. It was called "Crimean Mineral". Today, the Saki pump room of mineral water is in almost every sanatorium in the city. It is used for taking mineral baths, as well as washing the patients after mud procedures.

Lake

Often this unique pond is called a kind of natural laboratory. Saki lake in Crimea is famous for its healing mud. Before the beginning of the 20th century, two large therapeutic lakes were known on the territory of Russia - Sakskoye and Chokrak (Kerch Peninsula).

In ancient times the lake was the Black Sea Gulf. In those days salt was extracted here. At its very bottom about five thousand years ago began to accumulate gray-steel and gray mud with a layer of salt. Above formed a whole layer, and there were dark gray and black ooze. They are a curative mud. Today Sakskoe lake in the Crimea is very popular. Here both local residents and tourists have a rest.
