Rubber paths for cottages: types, installation

While engaged in the development of the suburban area, many people are faced with the question of which material to perform the tracks, so that they can move comfortably in any weather. Usually for these purposes, all familiar tiles, concrete or crushed stone, but recently more often you can hear about such innovations as rubber tracks. What is this and what are the features of this coverage, we will understand in more detail.

What is a rubber garden path?

Already quite a long time in civilized countries have found practical application of used rubber tires. After a special treatment, rubber granules are obtained from them, from which later they produce mats, tiles, seamless and roll coating.

Today, this technology is actively used in our country. The materials obtained in this way have been widely used, since they have a number of positive qualities. They do not absorb moisture from the ground, they are easy to clean and very simple to install, and thanks to the extensive color scheme and the variety of shapes and patterns, they serve as an excellent decoration for the interior.

Note the rubber tracks can be in sports halls, offices, shopping centers, on playgrounds and tennis courts, on the premises of production premises, cottage and suburban areas.

Products are available in the form of square tiles, roll and seamless coating.

Tile from rubber granules

Rubber tiles are made by soldering small granules, due to which it is endowed with high strength and durability. It is stacked in rows on any hard surface and fixed with each other using special bushings.

Rubber tiles for tracks are considered the best option for the arrangement of country cottages. This is due to the fact that it is not afraid of moisture, is not susceptible to damage by bugs and rodents, is resistant to temperature changes and, if necessary, can be dismantled and laid elsewhere. Its important feature is softness and roughness, which makes it possible to move comfortably along the wet path with bare feet, without fear of slipping.

The porous structure of the material ensures a rapid absorption of water, so after rain or watering on such a path there are no puddles completely.

Rubber tiles for the tracks do not form cracks and chips, and in case of need the elements that have failed are easily replaced.

Roll coating

The production of roll coatings differs little from the process of manufacturing rubber tiles. Shredded rubber particles are mixed with coloring pigments and polyurethane, and then they are covered in a special form, where the material undergoes heat treatment. After drying, it is cut to a certain length and width. Rubber track in rolls is convenient in that it fits not only on flat surfaces, but also on stairs, slippery and traumatic areas, in front of the house and near the pools.

It is advisable to use this coating in places of rest with young children, since the rubber surface will soften the falls and prevent the child from getting serious injuries.

It should be noted that this material is completely safe for people, domestic animals and plants, because even when heated, it does not release harmful substances and unpleasant odors into the air. In winter, the rubber tracks do not form ice, their surface can be easily cleaned of snow.

It is recommended to use this kind of coating exclusively for straight paths, since winding paths will cause most of the roll to be scrapped.

Seamless coating

A seamless coating is produced directly on the site where laying is planned. The advantages of this option is that the area to which the rubber mixture is spread can be of absolutely any size and shape. Seamless covering is ideal for floors of street arbors, local areas, small areas of irregular shape and other recreation areas. The absence of joints makes the track surface smooth and uniform. The use of different colors allows you to visually delineate individual areas and make the site more attractive.

Process of installation of tracks from rubber

Is it possible to independently design a site with rubber tracks? Of course you can! As mentioned above, rubber garden paths are very easy to install, anyone can do it. An exception is a seamless coating, requiring special equipment and certain skills.

Rubber tracks made of tiles can be laid on a solid foundation or directly on the ground, which is often done in the suburban areas. In this case, you need to choose a thicker tile, a width of 3 to 8 cm. First you need to remove the top layer of soil (8-10 cm), then lay a drainage layer with a width of at least 7 cm. Above the rubble, the necessary layer of sand is laid and tamped. From both edges of the path rubber curbs are installed, which will reliably fix the tile and protect its edges from destruction.

The tiles are laid on the sand and fastened together with specially designed bushings.

For laying on a flat concrete base, you can purchase a material 2 cm thick.

The rubber track in rolls is stacked in a similar way, the only difference is that the width and length of the trench must match the dimensions of the previously purchased material.

Conclusion

Rubber tracks are a relatively new technology, which has already proved itself well in various fields.

Long service life, practicality, color integrity, environmental friendliness and beautiful appearance are far from all the qualities that rubber tracks are endowed with. The price depends on the type and thickness of the coating. So, one square meter of tile will cost the buyer in the amount of 1300 to 1500 rubles, and the cost of seamless coating ranges from 700 to 1000 rubles.

When choosing a certain type, it is necessary to take into account the purpose of the site on which it will be located. On the recreational areas and paths you can use both tiles and roll cover, and for recreation areas with young children it is better to purchase a seamless coating.
