The film "I will not return": reviews, actors and roles, a film crew

The film "I Will Not Be Back" was criticized by domestic film critics as an extraordinary international project in the genre of road-movie. Remaining unnoticed for all major Russian film festivals, but at the same time worthy awards of any of them, the film directed by Ilmar Raag was held at the box office by almost none of the priceless.

Creators

"I will not return" (2014) - this is not only the debut of Estonian director Ilmar Raag (the creator of the thundering "Class") in Russian cinema, this is the brainchild of Sergey Selyanov's studio, which is one of the signs of quality. For the latter, this project has become a kind of return to an irreproachable form after previous unsuccessful "Dialogues".

The brainchild of Raag - the film "I will not be back" reviews specialists dubbed rare in the domestic film industry a case of good film production. The director's talent, for the first time after the social drama "Klass" (severe chronicles of school crime), which collected all sorts of prizes, was recognized even by the most skeptical movie-makers. The script for the painting was written by playwrights Yaroslav Pulinovich and Oleg Gase. The undoubted merit of the project was his genre identity, the genre of road-movie is extremely rare in Russian cinema. But the most indisputable sign of quality and eccentricity was the choice of the film for the main festival of independent films Tribeca.

Domestic road-movie

"I will not return" (2014) - an international project. Separate episodes of the film were filmed in Kronstadt and St. Petersburg, others, mostly road, in Kazakhstan and Belarus. The Finnish and Estonian manufacturing companies took an active part in the production of the painting. Removing the story, the director now and then turns to metaphysical and metamorphic techniques - an integral part of the narrative becomes the road in all its manifestations, desirable and not so fellow travelers, fantasies and parables.

In general, the film "I will not return" reviews professional filmmakers called the built on the contrasts. At times the narrative became as close to reality as it was heated and contrasting, and from time to time spread like a fantasy haze. The director seems to lead the viewer in strange paths, demonstrating all the vicissitudes of life - from bright piercing moments of happiness to the lowest senses.

My native country is wide

The film "I Will Not Come Back", whose actors and roles were selected by producer Selyanov, allows the foreign viewer to fully experience the scope of Russia - geographical and social. Cozy apartments are quickly replaced by an unsightly picture of littered St. Petersburg porches, branded red leather boots ruthlessly rhyme with rubber hundred-ruble from the department store.

Critics, analyzing the film "I will not return", the reviews left a variety, but united them one: all as one noted an innovative approach to structuring the narrative. The main story (odyssey hitchhiking) in the movie does not begin immediately, part of the timing goes to the eyeballs. In short, the plot of the movie is the following story. The main character Anna (Polina Pushkaruk), an unsociable graduate student, in her incomplete 23 already reading lectures on Byron's work at the university, drawn into a knowingly hopeless relationship with one of the teachers, will be forced to run. She is mistakenly accused of storing and selling narcotic drugs. The girl, pretending to be an orphanage along with an occasional patroness, 13-year-old Christina (Vika Lobacheva), rushes to Kazakhstan, where she supposedly lives the grandmother of a teenage girl.

Women's cinema

The work of Ilmar Raag perfectly corresponds to the trend of women's cinema, which has dominated the Russian film industry for the past two years. The co-author of the script is Yaroslav Pulinovich, a 27-year-old native of Yekaterinburg. In the frame, for the most part, two debutants - performers of the main roles. Actresses, especially Vika Lobacheva, who do not have a professional education, adequately react to all the life vicissitudes of their heroines, keep themselves naturally and very straightforwardly. Therefore, they can safely be called the main advantage of the picture, which captivates the viewer with the organic and charisma of actresses. Pauline Pushkaruk plays deeper and smarter than the material she has been offered, she is predicted by a fast-moving movie career, like the rise of Oksana Akinshina from the "Sisters" by Sergei Bodrov.

By the way, in addition to producer Sergei Selyanov, the "Sisters" from the child of Raag have a lot in common, but many differences. The Estonian director, due to his non-Russian background and mentality, is too sensitive to perceive the surrounding reality, against which the events of the picture are developing. His Russian contemporary reality looks ravishingly and frighteningly at the same time. Arthouse from Raag still pleasantly surprises the domestic viewer with a complete lack of fierce desperation and gloominess.

Actors of the second plan

The role of Dima Morozov in the film was performed by Sergei Yatsenyuk. Russian actor of theater and cinema from Kazakhstan. He already has experience in the big cinema, although his debut took place relatively recently - in 2010. Sergei Yatsenyuk - the owner of the highest theater prize "Golden Soffit", the actor was brought to fame by movies: "I will not return," "Prohibition" and "Young Guard."

The role of the director of the orphanage was performed by the actress, who was deeply incompetent, unspoiled by various "mass media", "industries", not affected by the diseases of modern hypocrisy. Actress Olga Belinskaya perfectly embodied the role of her character, Natalia Ivanovna, her view is always tired and sad. Even when she smiles. Their melancholic expression seems to shift to the whole face, the actress easily and accurately conveys the changes in the inner state of her character.

The drama of homeless children

The film "I will not return" reviews cinematographers of all stripes have been delicately defined regarding the themes of orphanages and orphanage. Creators during the casting casting, realizing the moral responsibility, did not consider the pretenders from the orphanages specifically for the role of Christina. But still the test of V. Lobacheva was beyond any competition. It was later revealed that the girl lived for several years in the orphanage, although at the time she started filming she moved to the foster family. But the relationship with the guardians did not work out, and Vika again found himself an orphanage. Maybe that's why the filmmakers basically avoided "pressure on the tear", did not use prohibited methods and at the end of the picture and left a tiny ray of hope. Nevertheless, in the minor tale of the tape, incidents of slangy words and details of the existence of orphaned children are found all the time.

Important components

Undoubtedly, the author's cinema. This is evidenced by the work of the operator Tuomo Hutry and the installation of Tambet Tasuya. However, the operator's efforts can not be called the work, it's rather an artistic painting by a camera that is not just harmonious within the concept of a film, it seems to live its own life, in itself, led by a talented master.

Not inferior to the sophistication of the visual component and the musical accompaniment of the picture. Unhurried, gentle melody of the Finnish composer Pan Aalto can not be forgotten. In musical compositions there are no alarming notes, the melody does not bear the load of sad events. The title theme of the film evokes associations with the tartness of the autumnal prel, the hope and the light of true love.

Different meanings

The drama "I will not return" can be attributed various meanings, subtexts. One of the most common options can be considered a metaphor for human life, in which the road chooses us, and not we the road. You can equate the main character Anya to a whole generation of children of the 90's - abandoned by the state, forgotten by their parents, who in their adult life remain angry cubs who are not fit for the big world, who can not express their feelings and emotions. Others will recognize in the heroine of Polina Pushkaruk Russia, first cornered, deceived, but able to find her way, despite the fact that she had to start everything from scratch, surrounded by enemies.
