Root parsley: cultivation and care, pests and diseases

Root parsley. Cultivation of it should be carried out on fertile soils - loamy or sandy loamy. In poor organic soil apply humus or compost (up to 5 kg per square meter). The best predecessors for this culture are tomatoes, cucumbers, onions.

To obtain early germination seeds soaked in a warm solution of potassium permanganate for 10 hours, then dried until flowability. Root parsley is sown in early spring. The seed consumption is 5 g per 10 sq. M. Meters. Plants do not tolerate tightness. Their optimal number is 30 pcs. For 1 running meter. Planting parsley can be done and under the winter, so that the shoots appeared as early as possible, and by the end of the growing season, the root crops gained a good weight and a sufficient amount of nutrients. Root parsley, the cultivation of which does not involve much effort, still needs regular watering and weeding. Excessive hydration is not necessary. This culture is responsive to the loosening of the rows. It saturates the soil with oxygen and allows the roots to receive it in sufficient volume. Loosening is desirable after watering, in sunny weather, so that the weeds dry up immediately.

For a crop such as root parsley, the cultivation will not be successful unless you feed the planting during the growing season. The first liquid fertilizing with mineral fertilizers is carried out in the phase of 2-3 present sheets. To do this, take 70 grams of nitrophosphate per 10 liters of water. After watering this solution you need to make sprinkling to wash it off the leaves. The second feeding is carried out in a month, and the third, without nitrogen, a month before harvesting the roots.

Remove parsley to storage before frost, so that it has had time to dry out slightly in the sun. Root crops are excavated, the tops are cut off, and parsley is put in a container with sand. The root parsley is stored at a temperature of 0 to +2 degrees. Small, twisted, damaged root crops for storage are unsuitable. They are usually washed, cleaned, crushed (can be greens) and dried.

Diseases and pests, like all garden plants, are affected and root parsley. Growing it will not be effective if you do not react in time to troubles of this kind. White coating on cuttings and leaves speaks of powdery mildew. It affects plants in rainy weather and drastically reduces the palatability of root crops. The softness of root crops and the presence on them of white or brown mycelium testifies to white or gray rot, respectively. White patches protruding on the leaves in August are signs of septoriosis (white spotting). Another disease is rust. It can be distinguished first by yellow pads, and then by brown spots on the bottom of the leaf and stem.

Pests are also able to destroy the crop on the vine. The green carrot fleece is fed with parsley juice. Carrot fly lives in root crops, the leaves of the affected plant acquire a purple tint. The nematode causes deformation of the green mass. Melon aphids settle in colonies on the underside of the leaf and cause shrubs to dry out.

It should be noted that root parsley is not very susceptible to diseases and pest infestation. But do not grow it next to the carrots.
