Restoring train RZD. What is a recovery train?

Air transportation in our time is gaining increasing popularity not only when moving passengers, but also when transporting various goods to any distance. But, despite this, the railway does not lose its relevance due to cheaper cost. Here, as in road transport, there may also be emergency situations with different consequences. And then comes such a unit as a recovery train. About what it is, read below.

What are the recovery trains?

The transport unit, called the recovery train, is a special formation, the main duty of which is to eliminate the consequences of emergency situations that have occurred on the railway tracks. This can be the case of the derailment of rolling stock from rails or the collision of locomotives.

In addition, the rehabilitation train team, within its technical capabilities, can provide first aid to victims of accidents or as a result of some kind of natural disaster.

Important role

The main task facing the rolling stock brigade is to ensure the speedy resumption of railway traffic. By engaging in the recovery train, it is necessary to manage minimal losses of material values. And in the presence of victims, the safety of life and health of people always comes first.

Equipment

To carry out the necessary work, the rolling stock has all the necessary equipment and tools. On board the train there is a crane and various devices for lifting large-sized loads, there are hydraulic jacks. Also included in the repair unit are tractors equipped with winches, tractors, bulldozers.

In order to supply electricity in the train, there are power stations. If necessary, to perform work in the dark, searchlight installations are provided.

In addition, depending on the specific situation, the recovery train may have on board different cars, equipment for welding and cutting metal. The train can be successfully used also for extinguishing fires with appropriate equipment.

The whole train has several dozen cars, each of which has its own purpose. Wagon-pantry provides storage of the necessary material and tools. In addition, the composition consists of:

  • Car with food;
  • Sanitary wagon;
  • Working platform.

The train should always be in good technical condition to immediately go on the first call. In order to ensure expeditiousness, the composition has communication facilities.

Organization of the recovery process

The volume of all restoration work and the time of their completion depend on the number of units of the transport structure in case of an emergency. When a recovery train is brought to the scene, the degree of damage received is also taken into account, whether cargo is on board, whether the accident had an effect on the technical state of the railroad track and a number of other factors.

The situation can become much more complicated if the accident occurred in a tunnel or on a bridge, especially if there are significant damages. Danger is the occurrence of accidents involving formulations that transport dangerous or highly flammable goods. No less dangerous is the descent of the train near the village.

Each emergency situation is unique in nature, and there is, for example, completely identical cases of derailment of trains from the rails, when a recovery train is called. Work in this case is carried out in accordance with the developed general tactic of the recovery process, which involves several stages:

  • Information gathering of the incident;
  • Delivery of the transport unit to the place of the accident;
  • Carrying out of restoration works.

It is extremely important that each stage takes as little time as possible, especially when it comes to victims.

Collection of information

The main task that the RZD rehabilitation train must solve is to quickly collect all the necessary information about the accident, during which it is necessary to determine the nature of the accident (collision, derailment). It is also important to find out whether there are victims, the presence of dangerous goods and the likelihood of a fire. It also takes into account the terrain on which the accident occurred, the condition of the railroad track and trains.

The most complete information will allow you to make the right decision about the number of recovery units that will need to be sent, the availability of equipment and the necessary materials. The omission of even the smallest at first glance details and procrastination threatens with great losses. And human life is priceless.

Delivery of the train

When information is received about an incident, immediate action is taken. Depending on the situation, rehabilitation and fire trains can be sent, or additional forces may be mobilized: the Interior Ministry units, the Civil Defense, and other necessary services. Responsibility for making a decision on the number of redevelopment trains being sent lies with the chief of the road department. If a large amount of work is foreseen, then the duty goes to the chief of the road.

With regard to the time of departure of the formulations, during working hours it is no more than 30 minutes, and at other times - up to 40 minutes. In this case, the movement of any recovery and fire locomotive has priority over all other types of railway transport.

Restoration work

After collecting all the necessary information, one repair and recovery train or several trains are sent to the scene. To correct the situation associated with the derailment of the train from the rails, an optimal solution is chosen for its lifting.

The departure of almost the entire composition is almost always accompanied by damage to the railway. In this regard, the recovery process has high demands. Immediately before the work, a special group of people collects materials that will help shed light on the cause of the accident.

The whole restorative procedure is carried out according to the standard scheme. First of all, the damaged composition is removed from the tracks and cargoes. To avoid the loss of expensive goods, the order of its protection and cleaning is organized. In the future, the emergency recovery train is used when it is necessary to repair the rails. At the same time, it is not produced after a complete cleaning of the convoy, but as the tracks are freed from the wagons.

A short digression into the history

People who follow the correction of the consequences of accidents on the railway tracks are devoted to a professional day, celebrating which falls on November 11. In history, the first appearance of a recovery train in 1936 is mentioned. All thanks to LM Kaganovich, who signed the decree, which referred to the reconfiguration of the operating mode of the recovery train. At that time, it was impossible to do qualitative work on the auxiliary crews. Therefore, on their basis, repair trains of JSCo "Russian Railways" were created, which should ensure not only high quality of work, but also maximum operational efficiency.

In other words, the entire structure of reducing compounds exists practically from the development of the railway network on the territory of Russia. The equipment was heavy at first, and it was necessary to work in the most difficult conditions. As for the form of the workers, it was simple and not entirely convenient. Nevertheless, people coped with their task.

Currently, modern technology is used, but despite this, the quality of work directly depends on the qualifications of the staff. Workers regularly undergo training to constantly improve their skills.
