Replacement of catalyst and particulate filter Hyundai Santa Fe

Hyundai Santa Fe - srednerazmerny crossover of South Korean production, is produced from 2000 to the present day.

The first generation was produced from 2001 to 2007. The car was aggregated by four-cylinder gasoline engines with a volume of 2.4 liters and V6 with volumes of 2.7 and 3.5 liters. The exhaust system of the car with the in-line motor had two catalysts - one on the manifold with two lambda probes, and the other under the bottom without oxygen sensors. On versions with V-shaped catalyst engines put three - two on each side of the engine and the third under the bottom. There was also a two-liter turbodiesel version, which was fitted with a diesel particulate filter.

Since 2006, the second generation Hyundai Santa Fe comes into production. The modern, more sporty exterior of the model has been approved by the consumer. The car was aggregated by the following engines: petrol V6 with volumes of 2.7 and 3.3 liters and capacities of 185 hp. And 242 hp, respectively, and turbocharged diesel with a volume of 2.2 liters with a power of 200 hp. The arrangement of catalysts on machines with a petrol engine of 2.7 liters is similar to the previous version, a catalyst with a 3.3-liter motor was added, and a diesel particulate filter was still installed on the diesel engine.

In 2012, the third generation of the crossover was presented. The car is aggregated by petrol turbocharged engines with volumes of 2.0 and 2.4 liters, V6 with a volume of 3.3 liters, as well as turbodiesel with a volume of 2.0 and 2.2 liters. Transmission six-speed mechanics or automatic.

What you need to know when replacing the catalyst

Any catalyst can be replaced with a flame arrester, but this requires deceiving the second lambda probe. To do this, there are deceptions, special devices that allow you to create conditions for obtaining the desired signal from the second sensor, or change its value and then "give" their electronics.

Dummies of the first type are called mechanical (spacer for a lambda probe, a minimizer, a screwdriver for a second lambda), and the second one is electronic (made in the form of a microcircuit). Theoretically, the machine can be "stitched" under EURO-2, but there are very few places where it can do without consequences for the engine.

Another solution is to install universal catalysts. They are much cheaper than the original due to a simpler design. Manufacturers of universal catalysts assure that their resource is not inferior to the original products. In practice, it turns out that this is not quite true. The resource of only the best manufacturers - Eberspacher, Bosal and some others is about 80 - 90%, that is almost the same as the original. For the others, it is much lower.
