Recipe for mustard, prepared at home

Sharp, burning, sweet .... It's all about her, mustard, a product that took an honorable place on our table. Its main quality is that it is perfectly combined with a variety of dishes, giving them a special refined taste. Of course, mustard is an amateur, not everyone can feel all the charm of her taste, and prefers to eat meat, fish or something else without her direct participation. Well, it's everyone's right.

Many people think that Russia is the motherland of mustard. In fact, the inhabitants of Ancient Rome knew about it, and we also had mustard appeared relatively recently, at the beginning of the XVIII century. The true products for the preparation of the sauce were mustard grains and high-quality vinegar. In total, mankind knows three kinds of mustard: white, black and Russian. By the way, the latter is considered the most acute.

You can buy this product in any store, but if you want, then you can prepare mustard yourself. For example, you wanted to please the guests with something like that or just do not want to run to the store. Preparing mustard at home does not take you much time, but then you can proudly say that you know how to cook this hot sauce yourself. There are several mustard recipes, but now you will see for yourself that they all look very much alike.

Now I'll tell you how to make mustard from powder.

Ingredients: 100 g of mustard powder, 750 ml of water, vinegar, vegetable oil, salt.

Preparation: pour the powder into a small container and pour it 250 ml of steep boiling water continuously stirring. Carefully rub the whole mass until all the lumps disappear. Then the resulting thick mass is poured with the remaining water (pre-boiled). Put sauce in a dark place for 24 hours for infusion. When the time passes, add excess liquid, add a little vinegar, salt and vegetable oil to the mustard (to taste).

If such a recipe for mustard seems boring and boring, then try to diversify it. For example, you can add your favorite seasoning, crushed raisins or nuts to the mustard. Be sure to keep the mustard in a tightly closed container, so that it does not lose its taste and stay fresh longer. Save the taste will help and a piece of lemon, laid on top of the mustard.

This is the way of making French mustard.

Ingredients: 140 g of mustard seeds, 3 tbsp of mustard powder, 1 glass of water, 125 ml of apple cider vinegar, 125 ml of dry white wine.

Preparation: rub the pestle in a mortar (or a mill for spices) seeds of mustard, pour them into a small container, add dry mustard, apple cider vinegar, dry white wine. Leave for 2 hours, mix well and season with salt and black pepper. Close the container tightly with a lid and insist in the fridge for 3-4 days.

Ingredients: 50 g mustard powder, 100 ml cucumber brine, 0.5 teaspoon salt, 0.5 teaspoon sugar, 1 teaspoon vegetable oil, 1 teaspoon table vinegar or lemon juice.

Preparation: put in a container of powder, salt, sugar and pour in vegetable oil. Fill with cucumber brine. It should be a little warm. All ingredients are well mixed. We transfer the mustard into a closing container and put it on the day for infusion. After a day we add apple cider vinegar to the mixture. Again, we mix everything thoroughly. Store in a refrigerator in a tightly closed jar.

If you want to diversify your mustard, then remember the following:

· Raisins, dried apricots and prunes, previously shredded and added to mustard, will emphasize the taste of turkey, pork or grilled vegetables.

· Mustard with fresh herbs (tarragon, rosemary, thyme) is good for fish dishes and game.

· Grilled sausage or ham can be added with mustard with fresh horseradish and chopped herbs.
