Railway station of Kazan. History and modernity

The railway station of Kazan is, undoubtedly, an important transport interchange not only in the scales of the region, but the whole country. From here and round the clock passenger and freight trains are sent both to different parts of Russia and abroad.

The railway station complex of the station "Kazan-Passazhirskaya" is located in the central region of the capital of Tatarstan on the Railway station square. The history of the station and the service in our time

The opening of the station took place some time after the construction of the Moscow-Kazan railway in the territory of the Kazan province in 1893. The architect of the main building was the architect Heinrich Rush. Before that, there was no communication in Kazan. Initially, the movement of trains to Sviyazhsk was laid, and only after the construction of the bridge across the Volga was opened a section of the road to Kazan. The trip by train from Moscow to Kazan took 53 hours, now you can get there in 14 hours.

After the fire in 1992, which almost destroyed the main building, the station was rebuilt. Repair work was completed just in time for the celebration of the 100th anniversary. The new railway station in Kazan is actually a comfortable and cozy room. After the reconstruction of the building, the capacity of the station increased significantly (more than 750 passengers). There are three waiting rooms, a meeting room, an information desk, a mother and child room, toilets, catering points, ATMs and other office space. The station square is equipped with a car park and an underground passage. Near the station is the city square.

Appearance and awards

Made of red brick and restored again after the fire, the railway station of Kazan resembles an ancient castle. It is especially beautiful at night, when the light transforms the beauty of architecture and gives it some mysterious mystery. The walls and the floor surface in the room are decorated with marble and granite. On the street in front of the entrance there are sculptures of two snow-white leopards. The facade of the building is decorated with stucco and lanterns. Recently, the railway station (Kazan) - the address by which people like to photograph themselves as local newlyweds, and numerous tourists.

With the increase in the flow of passengers in 1967, they decided to build a second two-story building, the architect of which was M. Kh. Agishev. Twenty years later, the administrative building of the Kazan representation of the Gorky Railway was built near the station, which in general is in harmony with the architecture of the old station.

In the last quarter of 2009, a large team of the Kazan railway station became the winner in the industry competition organized by RZD. The competition took into account not only the performance indicators, but also the opinions of passengers.
