Pulpitis: Treatment and Impositions

Pulpitis, complications of which are simply a nightmare for dentists and patients, most often causes a toothache.

Why it happens

Inflammation of the nerve (in other words - pulp), which is located in the internal cavity of the tooth, is accompanied by the infection of surrounding tissues and blood vessels. This is supplemented by a strong, almost intolerable pain. Often the discomfort motivates those suffering from this disease to resort to self-treatment. It is better not to allow the state of your teeth to deteriorate so much, and pulpitis appears. Treatment, especially timely, caries and some other problems of the oral cavity is much easier and painless.

Mechanical trauma of the tooth, exposure to high temperature, systemic infections - all this can trigger the onset of this disease. But most often the inflammation of the pulp is a consequence of deep caries. The first symptom is often the sharp pain that occurs at night. It can be aching and constant. And maybe - paroxysmal. Pain in one tooth or at once in several is amplified in the process of eating. The better the patient can track and then describe the localization of pain, the more detailed the history of the disease will subsequently be filled. Pulpitis can provoke pulling sensations and discomfort in the temple, neck, middle ear. It is common practice to have an unpleasant ripple in the opposite side of the jaw.

Much more dangerous is triggered and chronic pulpitis. Treatment in this case should be based not only on the removal of the pain syndrome, but also on the elimination of the cause of the indisposition. Inflamed pulp should be treated with disinfectants. Then the dentist makes a treatment for a sick tooth. In some particularly neglected cases, removal may be required.

Pulpitis. Treatment of complications

The consequences of self-medication and abuse of pain medication can be quite serious. One of the most unpleasant complications arising from a disease such as pulpitis, whose treatment is belated, is periodontitis. This spread of infection beyond the tooth and the consequent inflammation of surrounding tissues. The most dangerous thing in this process is that it can affect bone tissue. And there is not far to osteomyelitis. The latter is extremely difficult to treat with antibiotics and can provoke the formation of a cyst near the root of the tooth.

Pulpitis can be eliminated, but if the canal is badly sealed (not completely) or the filling material has left behind its apex, then the disease can recur. To effectively treat an experienced dentist, you need to perform several sequential manipulations. If the pulp is viable and the inflammatory phenomena in it are reversible, then first apply antiseptics, then put a bandage on the tooth, and then put the seal. After this, it is necessary to make a control X-ray. If the inflammation of the pulp is irreversible, the tooth is removed, and a crown is placed in its place after wound healing. The best treatment for any diseases remains prevention and timely filling of carious cavities.
