Removable dentures - description and care

Removable dentures are designed to make up for both complete and partial loss of teeth. In the era of rapid development of technology and dental, in particular, modern dentures significantly outweigh the bulky and inconvenient designs that were used in the last century. Modern removable dentures using new materials are unusually convenient, wear-resistant and attractive in appearance.

There are many types of prostheses used in dentistry, but all this variety of types comes down to a few basic ones, some of which are discussed in the article.

Complete removable dentures are shown with a complete absence of teeth on both jaws

In the absence of one or more teeth, it is recommended to use partially removable dentures. This group includes constructions such as Bugel (arc), lamellar dentures, implied prostheses and other

Prostheses such as Bugel are used in almost all cases of tooth loss and are now considered to be one of the most reliable and comfortable designs. The design of the clasp prosthesis is designed in such a way that it provides pressure uniformly and uniformly distributed on the gum and supporting teeth. The basic element of this type of prosthesis is a metal arc, which includes all the functional elements. The material for the frame is high-strength alloys. Prostheses are produced with the maximum calculation of all elements of the structure. As the fasteners they use metal hooks (clasps) or lock fasteners. Metal hooks are a resilient wire that is made of either stainless steel or a gold platinum alloy. Fasteners are always installed at the base of the tooth and are almost invisible to others.

In case of loss of one tooth, dentists recommend the use of conditionally removable dentures. They are attached to adjacent teeth with the help of metal elements or with the help of cement composition. Their name is due to the fact that they do not need to be removed.

Removable prostheses of the last generation are nylon, which in almost all parameters surpass plastic dentures. The constructions of this kind are made of flexible nylon material and are used both for replacing the missing fragment of teeth and for complete loss of teeth. They are indicated for all diseases of the gums. The main advantages of nylon prostheses are extreme strength and flexibility, inability to accumulate microorganisms, resistance to chemicals and moisture, lightness, but most importantly - the lack of the need for processing adjacent teeth.

Currently, removable dentures are made from dental plastics. Plastic prostheses retain their quality (shape, strength and color) for a long time. The dental row in such designs is offered to the user in the form of sets of teeth with different shades, shapes and sizes. The assortment of sets is wide enough and provides the user with a wide choice. In the construction of plastic hardware, metal hooks or locks are also used, but unlike clasp prostheses, they do not differ in the wide range of modifications of fasteners.

Care for modern dentures with plastic base is extremely simple. In the recent past, when the prosthesis was made on a rubber base, they had to be placed in a container with water for the night so that they would not crack. Prostheses with a plastic base in this procedure do not need, and dentists recommend that they be limited only to hygienic procedures.
