Pruning of grapes. How to properly cut grapes

Grapes are a plant characterized by almost immeasurable growth, and pruning grapes allows you to keep it within your desired limits, for example, the height of some part of the wall of your house or balcony. Some gardener cuts the grapes in the spring, due to the fact that they adhere to the principle, so as not to overwinter badly. And experts say that it is best to cut grapes in autumn.

When pruning grapes in the spring, laying and hiding the sleeves and vines for the winter, they are knit in a bundle, which, in turn, will contain those vines that have grown, and those vines that died after frost. Such unripened and frozen wines contain moisture. In the spring sun, it will cause the formation of mold and rot, as the temperature in the shelter will be warm (more than five degrees). Mold can damage healthy, ripened vines, hitting them.

Pruning grapes in spring entails the expiration of grapes juice. When the autumn cropping in the places of the scrap of the vine, cork is formed, which prevents the juice from flowing, it will only drip a little. In the people, this effect is called "grape weeping".

When pruning grapes in spring, the cropped vine does not have time to stop, so that the wounds in the cuts will be open. If you raise such a grape on the column of a grape arch, its juice will flow through the vines and fall on the kidneys, which will become wet and die.

The most difficult is to obtain a full seedling in the first year, because, before he has ripened, he can freeze in the fall.

The growth of the seedling after the first year can reach from 0,5 to 1,5 meters, and the number of mature buds of the vines can amount to 4 to 5 pieces. The pruning of the grapes should be done a few centimeters up from the kidney, which is ripe.

Some experiment, cutting the vine and replacing the kidneys. The size of the berries eventually becomes large. By the end of the summer season it becomes noticeable that outwardly some part of the vine is not very alive, so what to do with them?

On the arrival of autumn, all this vine must be cut, so that the fruits get as much food as possible. And in the damp and cold summer vines generally can not ripen. At autumn frosts it can break, like icicles. In this case it is necessary that the bush acquire a long form. Such pruning of sleeves will yield a crop for the next year thanks to the kidneys that sleep.

With this pruning, both the grape brush and the size of the berries will become larger. It will also accelerate the time of ripening of berries and will facilitate the care of your grape bushes when the vegetation comes.

Practical guidance - how to cut grapes

In the summer, each sleeve kidney can be given several grape brushes and long branches - vines. This may well be one brush of grapes, and one vine.

Such a sleeve may well be left with one vine and one bough of substitution. The rest of the sleeve can be cut and thrown away altogether. For the further harvest, leave a vine with a thickness of 7 to 8 millimeters.

After pruning, the vine must have 6 to 12 pochochek, it all depends on how much you want to get a bunch. If there are few kidneys, then the bunch will be heavy. The replacement knot should eventually contain 2 to 3 buds. Pruning must be done directly at the node.

The vine for fruit-bearing is left only if it has matured sufficiently well. Effective and useful pruning will be if it is done in the autumn before hiding. Pruning grapes in spring will lead to the effect of "weeping" of the vine.
