Protection of personal data on the Internet

Citizens of Russia who have been careless in pointing out their mobile phone or e-mail address in the personal data column when filling out various forms, cards and questionnaires on the Internet often encounter spam that clogs the electronic mailbox.

It is hoped that the new introduction to the legislation of the Russian Federation will correct the current situation with the admission to personal data, which has been repeatedly attacked or hacked lately.

The working team for the development of information technology in September this year will submit to the State Duma of the Russian Federation for consideration several amendments to the current law on the protection of information in the communications, information technology and mass communications.

Head of the working group Ruslan Gattarov says that in the world of social networks, Russian citizens are not immune from public dissemination or distortion of information about themselves. Mr. Gattarov repeatedly tried to convict Google of evading tax payments, and also suspects the Facebook network in disagreement with the real legislation, since in the archive of any social network there are remote messages. Certainly, the relevance of this topic is connected with the sensational case of the CIA employee Edward Snowden, who declassified information about how US intelligence services receive information about users of Google, Facebook, Twitter and Microsoft.

Definitely, the world of online crimes committed in virtual reality is growing and expanding every day. Hackers are inventing new means of hacking personal users' cabinets and financial systems. In a company that provides legal services to large Internet providers, it is stated that in order to keep the Internet space free, it is necessary to create a working system for detection, prevention and removal of information, access to which is restricted by the current legislation. The Register of Prohibited Sites has been active for a year now, which, according to lawyers, can visually convince users of its goal - to save minors from information that can be traumatic and prohibited by law.

The Minister of Communications and Mass Media of the Russian Federation Nikolai Nikiforov stated that "everything that happens on the Internet can not be considered as confidential information - not from a legal, but from a technical point of view, because it passes through various channels, servers. Someone, one way or another, can have access to it. " Based on this, he argues that modern society should think about what kind of Internet services it uses. After all, according to the reports of Group-IB research groups, about fifty percent of sites with second-level domains in RU and RF zones are spreading malicious software. As explained, the lawyer - only for the first half of 2013 in the Russian-speaking segment of the worldwide Internet network, 896 sites threatening the software security of the computer were discovered.

The information is of great strength and can even be a weapon, as evidenced by the use of cyber weapons - Stuxnet and Duqu, as well as the expansion of its use in the territory of Iran and the adjacent territory of West Asia. Stepan Deshevykh, senior product manager at Kaspersky Lab, notes that now the modified "Trojans" are already being used in the sphere of entrepreneurship, going beyond the scope of frauds with home users. There are more and more malicious programs that are created to infect the repository of corporate documentation, as well as damage encryption programs.

The team of analysts of Acronis came to the conclusion that information loses its high degree of protection in those companies where employees use their own devices in the workplace. Only a third of large firms prohibit their employees from bringing personal devices to the office. In addition, many companies are allowed to use cloud services for data transmission, but almost more than eighty percent of organizations do not train employees in the safe use of computers.

Roskomnadzor, as well as other state agencies, are engaged in the implementation of new amendments to the current legislation: new crimes are introduced, virtually all types of violations are considered, and law-abiding companies are encouraged. For example, if a company does not receive complaints, the service puts it at the end of the checklist list. Roskomnadzor expects to receive more proposals on this score, wishing to encourage Russian society to obey the law not only in the real, but also in the virtual world.
