"Proserin" (injections)

"Prozerin" (injections) is a synthetic drug, the main active ingredient in which is neostigmine methyl sulfate.

This drug has a pronounced anticholinesterase activity, and therefore after its application, the transfer of excitation from the nerve to the skeletal muscle is improved, all cholinergic effects are enhanced in the internal organs and the eye, and the motility of the gastrointestinal tract is increased, the tone of the bronchi, bladder and secretion of the endocrine glands increases.

The drug "Proserin" is produced not only in the form of a solution for injection, but also in the form of tablets, granules, from which a suspension for oral administration (for children) is prepared.

Indications for use

This drug is used in the presence of myasthenia gravis, paralysis and paresis, with violations of motor activity after brain trauma, neuritis, after encephalitis, poliomyelitis and tuberculosis meningitis.

It is also used when it is necessary to treat the atrophy of the optic nerve, to reduce the intraocular pressure that increases with glaucoma, and, if necessary, narrowing the pupil. With these diseases, the drug is used in the form of eye drops.

The drug "Proserin" (injections) is used to stimulate labor, and it also has an analgesic effect. Often the drug is used in therapy, where it is used to treat atony of the stomach, bladder and intestines, it is taken internally.

The preparation "Proserin" injections, as well as other forms of the said medicinal product, is used exclusively on the prescription of the doctor, and to allow its independent use is prohibited.

If the drug is administered orally, then its dose for an adult is from one-hundredth to fifteen hundredths of a gram and is taken up to 3 times a day. For children under the age of ten, one thousandth of a gram for each subsequent year, but not more than 0.01 g per day.

The drug "Prozerin" (injections) can be administered either subcutaneously or intramuscularly in an amount of 1 ml of 0.05% solution, children are injected with one tenth of a ml for each year, but not more than 0.75 milliliters, everything is done in one or two Times. The total duration of treatment depends on the severity of the disease and can be from 15 to 40 days, and in some cases even longer.

If mild labor is noted, the drug "Proserin" (ampoules) should be used for subcutaneous injections and at the same time the "Atropine" agent is administered. This is done only once with the first admission or injection. Also, the drug is taken orally in an amount of 0.003 g every 40 minutes up to 6 times, and injections are made with 0.05% solution 2 times in an hour of 1.0 ml.

For an adult, the maximum daily dose is 0.05 g, and a single dose should not exceed fifteen hundredths of a gram. As for injections, the maximum dose per day is 0.006 g, a single dose of not more than two thousandths of a gram.

After the application of this drug may appear bradycardia, diarrhea, nausea, lower blood pressure, increased bronchial secretion, general weakness and allergic reactions.

If a person has diarrhea and pain in the abdomen, as well as torrential perspiration, this indicates a toxic effect of the drug "Proserin". In such cases, the drug "Atropine" is injected subcutaneously.

You can not use the medicine in the presence of epilepsy, increased muscle tone, bronchial asthma, angina pectoris, atherosclerosis and intolerance of this drug.
