Description of pharmacological properties of the drug

The active components of the preparation are obtained by purifying the extracts of the May lily of the valley and its varieties. This cardiac glycoside, which has a positive inotropic effect on the human body.

This drug activates the sodium-calcium metabolism of the cardiomyocyte membrane, which in turn increases the strength of the contractions of the heart muscle. Against the background of therapy, there is an increase in the shock volume of blood, a decrease in the end systolic and diastolic volume of the heart, and a reduction in myocardial oxygen demand.

Also, the drug provides a negative chronotropic effect. Treatment leads to an increase in the sensitivity of cardiopulmonary baroreceptors, reducing the excessive activity of the sympathetic system. On the other hand, the drug increases the activity of the vagus nerve, it can speed the pulse through the atrioventricular node and, thus, has an antiarrhythmic effect.

In the presence of ciliary tachyarrhythmia, this medicine slows the rate of contraction of the ventricles of the heart, lengthens the period of diastole, improves intracardiac hemodynamics. With intravenous administration, the medicine begins to act after 3-5 minutes. The maximum effect is observed after 25-30 minutes after taking the medicine.
