Platonov, "The Intimate Man": a summary of the chapters

Today we will consider the brief content of the book "The Secret Man" written by the Soviet writer Andrei Platonov.

A little about the author

Andrei Platonov is a talented Soviet poet and playwright. The boy was born in Voronezh. His real name is Klimentov. His father worked as a machinist, then as a mechanic. The mother of the future writer was a housewife, she produced ten children. Andrew was the eldest in the family, always followed the brothers and sisters, helped them.

The boy graduated from a regular parochial school, and then entered a technical school, which he graduated only after the end of hostilities. Then he begins to publish his stories in magazines and newspapers, gaining literary experience.

Andrei Platonov wrote the work "For Sale", for which he was punished by Stalin. When the Great Patriotic War began, the writer worked as a military correspondent. At the front Platonov was active, often exceeding his duties and was not afraid to be on the front line. In the last years of his life he earned his living by working on fairy tales. The author died in 1951, is buried in the Armenian cemetery.

First lines

How did your story begin with Andrei Platonov? "The Secret Person", a brief summary of which will be presented below, begins with an acquaintance with Foma Pukhov. The author immediately warns that the main character - the soul is not particularly sensitive (does not shun sausage cut on the coffin of his wife). Thomas himself explains this by the fact that the body takes its own. After the funeral, Pukhov decides to rest, as a long, busy day exhausted him. When he wakes up, he wants to drink kvas, but it turns out that it is over. In order to remove thirst, the widower lights, at this time someone is knocking loudly at his door. He is angry, thinking that even in sorrow they can not leave him alone. Yet he opens the door: is it not enough why the guest came.

The guests, who had to sign a ticket, had a guest. Letting go of him, Thomas looks out the window and sees that the blizzard has begun. This brings him sadness and longing for a caring wife. To calm himself, he decides that everything in the world occurs according to the laws of nature, and there is nothing to contradict them. However, the longing did not pass: loneliness became a test.

What is the continuation of the summary? "Secret Person" Platonov decides to take a nap before going to the station: there you have to arrive by 16 o'clock, but for now only noon. Razromlev and relaxed, he falls asleep to a child's sleep. With difficulty waking up, the man habitually called Glasha - his late wife, but no one answered him. Driving off lousy thoughts, he began to gather at the station: lace up his shoes, put the millet and bread.

Having crossed the threshold of the house, Thomas felt a malicious rush of the icy wind. All the way he walked despondently forward, something bad whispering to himself. At the station has already arrived a huge noisy locomotive with side wagons for snow removal. Then the head of the distance approached Foma and held out an order that Pukhov read and signed. The widower quickly signed and even experienced a strange sense of satisfaction from the fact that he was in for a difficult sleepless week: so quietly the grief would pass.

At work

Can not just pass the summary. The "secret man" of Platonov is one of those works that leave sad and bright feelings at the same time. In the car there were workers who were drinking potassium. A strong smell quickly hit his nose, which made Thomas wince. He took his job, and others followed suit. The snowstorm was fierce, but calm and inevitable. In the car it was dirty, but quite cozy and secluded.

We know that Andrey Platonov himself visited the front. "The inmost man," the brief content of which we are considering, transmits this situation in great detail and soulfully. The place of hostilities was only 60 versts. At one point the car braked sharply, the workers fell, smashing their heads into the blood. The jammed snowplow is surrounded by a detachment of mounted Cossacks, who order the locomotives to be delivered to the White station. At this time a red armored train arrives with soldiers who free the workers and kill the enemies.

Liski Station

The train arrives at the Liski station - that's where the summary goes. The "secret man" (Platonov A.) continues to rest workers at the named station for three days. On one barrack Thomas finds an announcement about the recruitment of mechanics in the south. Pukhov invites Comrade Zvorychny to throw snowballs together, since spring comes, and after the revolution it will be difficult to work at all. Despite the persuasion, Zvorychny does not want to leave his wife and little son.

Novorossiysk

What adventures of Thomas prepared Platonov AP? The "secret man" (a short summary in the article) continues with the journey of Pukhov and five of his comrades to Novorossiysk. Three ships of the Red are sent to the Crimea. Our hero sails on the steamer "Shan" and works there as an engine tuner. At night, a storm takes place, because of which the ships are far from each other. The disastrous element does not allow us to approach the Crimean coast, so the ship returns to the city. Here the hero finds work for 4 months, but often pines and sheds tart male tears for his wife.

Baku

What else does A. Platonov ("The Secret Person") prepare for his reader? The brief content, which we follow, leads us to the main hero in Baku. Here Thomas acquainted with the sailor Sharikov, who sent him to Tsaritsyn for hiring workers. Foma gives the sailor's documents to a familiar locksmith and sits down on the next train. When he asks passengers where he should go, they reply that they do not know.

Native Penates

Foma returns to his native city - so says Platonov. "The secret man," whose brief content we are now considering, continues in the house of Zvorychny. Foma there settles down and is arranged to work as a mechanic in the city. Soon he returns to his house, but often visits a friend because of boredom and anguish. Meanwhile, the city is attacked by whites. The workers are trying to organize defense, but nothing is sensible: many are dying. In the morning two trains arrive: the city is repulsed. Soon the dull work completely exhausts Pukhov, and he writes to the sailor Sharikov. He invites him to work in oil fields. Thomas agrees with joy and again goes to Baku. His life is improving, he regrets only about uninvited old age and about loneliness.

How does the summary end? "The inmost man" (Platonov A.) comes to the finale on a positive note. To Sharikov comes from captivity brother. At some point in the soul of Thomas wakes up sympathy. This new sensation inspires him, he finally feels an extraordinary spiritual uplift. To him come warmth and love for the Motherland, as if he returned to the arms of the mother after a long life with a grumpy wife.

This is how Andrei Platonov ends his story. "The inmost man" (a summary of the chapters above) ends on an inspiring, calm and inspiring note: a man has finally found his peace of mind, he is happy with simple things and a new sunny day.
