The necessary stratification (hardening) of the seeds is arranged by laying them in wet sand with ribs upwards for three to four months in a cool room (at temperatures from zero to six degrees Celsius). By the end of April the seeds will be pierced. You can plant them on a permanent place, gently lowering the nut with a spine down into a ten-centimeter hole. To the ground nut is unpretentious, it does not tolerate only acidic marshy soils. In two weeks a gentle sprout will rise from the earth. Watering the plant should be moderate, because abundant moisture will not allow it to fully prepare for the winter. First, the tree will grow slowly, but by the third year it will stretch and grow stronger. If the plant is not planted, it may not please you with delicious nuts. Fruit-bearing tree will begin in ten years, but it can give more than one generation of descendants, as the years of its life are estimated for centuries.
