Planning as a function of management is the definition of a variety of tasks of the functioning and development of an enterprise, as well as ways and money to achieve them. Any organization necessarily needs planning, because many management decisions are made:

• resources are allocated;
• Coordination of activities among individual units;
• Coordinated with the market;
• an effective internal structure is created;
• activity is monitored;
• the organization develops in the future.

Planning as a function of management can provide timely solutions, as well as avoid hasty decisions. With its help, a clear task and the right way to implement it is established, and mandatory monitoring of the situation.

The usual management functions at the enterprise:
- forecasts and plans;
- organizes work;
Motivates;
- Coordinates and regulates;
- performance of control, accounting, analysis.

The functions of management at the enterprise, which are distinguished, taking into account the activities:
- implementation of prospective and current economic and social planning;
- work on standardization is organized;
- accounting and reporting;
- implementation of economic analysis;
- Technically prepared production;
- production is organized;
- control the technological process;
- Operatively manage production;

The functions of modern management are quite diverse.
Planning as a function of management is:
• goal-setting (goals are defined);
• the combination (coordination) of the goal and the means of achieving it;
• the existing system of the company's work, and its future development, develops or unites.
The goal-setting is the development of tasks, and these are the overall goals of the company and the goals of its individual unit. As a result, different goals are obtained, which lie at the basis of planning.

To implement planning, you also need to have a well-organized organizational system. The work of the company is directed to get the target figure, and the results depend on how the work is built and coordinated. Even the most ideal plan will not be realized if there is no such organization. Execution structures must exist. In addition, the organization should have the opportunity to develop in the future, because if this does not happen, everything will collapse. Future activities of the organization depend on the external environment, on the skills and knowledge of employees, from those places that belong to organizations in the industry.

All planning in the company can be divided into such levels: strategic and operational. Strategic planning as a function of management is the definition of the purpose and procedure of the organization in the long term, operational is the system by which the organization is managed for the current time. These two types of planning connect the organization, in general, with all specific units and this is the key to successful coordination of action. If we talk about the organization in general, the planning is carried out in this way:

1. Develop the mission of the organization.
2. Given the mission, develop a strategic reference point or direction of work (the landmark is often called a quality goal).
3. Evaluate and analyze the external and internal environment of the organization.
4. Identify a strategic alternative.
5. Choose a specific strategy or path to achieve goals. Answer the question "what should I do?".
6. When the goal is set and alternative ways are chosen to get it, then it is necessary to develop tactical plans, conduct procedures, and follow the rules.

Based on all of the above, we can conclude that planning as a function of management allows a modern enterprise to develop extremely efficiently and dynamically, without spending any unnecessary financial resources.
