In part, its role is to reduce the amount of mucus secreted, and partly to suppress the allergic reaction that inevitably occurs as a result of taking medications. It is due to this substance that the nasal congestion of the cold decreases.

This substance has a huge list of indications for use. First of all, it is used for allergic conjunctivitis and runny nose. It is effective in the treatment of dermatitis and neurodermatitis. It quickly removes allergic swelling, prevents the appearance of urticaria.

This remedy is also used in the presence of itching. It is effective at insect bites, as it stops the development of an allergic skin reaction. Pheniramine is included in the composition of preparations used for burns of the first degree.

In combination with other drugs, the substance is used in the presence of general malaise after radiation therapy.

Dosage should be determined only by the attending physician, based on the patient's condition and the presence of contraindications. As a rule, preparations containing phenyramine have their own recommended doses.

Pheniramine maleate interacts with some medicines. For example, it increases the effect on the body of barbiturates and antidepressants. In some cases, the substance is able to inhibit the action of anticoagulants.

Preparations containing phenyramine are not recommended for use with hormonal contraceptives, since in this case its antihistaminic properties may be inhibited. Do not drink alcohol during treatment with phenyramine.

This substance is easily perceived by the human body, especially in small quantities. Nevertheless, there are some contraindications, such as, for example, the patient's individual sensitivity to feniramin.

It is also not recommended for people with closed-angle glaucoma (due to increased intraocular pressure) and men with prostatic hypertrophy.

As for the side effects, they are mostly explained by the effect on the nervous system. A person can feel fatigue, drowsiness, weakness and retardation of psychomotor reactions. In overdose, hallucinations and confusion may occur in children. Occasionally there is dryness in the mouth and a delay in the release of urine.
