The drug "Metoclopramide" is available in tablet form and as a solution for injections. It has an antiemetic property.

A medication is prescribed for nausea, vomiting, hiccoughs of different origin. Can be effective in suppressing gag reflexes, due to the administration of cystatics or after radiation therapy. To the indications for the use of the drug "Metoclopramide" the instruction refers to hypotension and atony of the duodenum and stomach, functional disorders in digestion, gastroesophageal reflux disease. Assign a drug also for dyskinesia in the bile ducts, flatulence. As part of complex treatment, the agent "Metoclopramide" is often used in cases of peptic ulcer disease in the duodenum and stomach. In addition, the drug is used in preparation for diagnostic measures for the gastrointestinal tract.

Do not apply the drug with increased sensitivity to the components. Contraindications are bleeding in the gastrointestinal tract, mechanical intestinal obstruction, stenosis of the pylorus (special sphincter) of the stomach, perforation of the intestinal or gastric wall. The drug is not prescribed for glaucoma, epilepsy, Parkinson's disease and other extrapyramidal disorders. Contra-indications also include prolactin-dependent tumors, age up to two years.

Tablets "Metoclopramide" during pregnancy can be used in cases of need and under the supervision of a doctor. In medical practice, strictly controlled and adequate studies of the effect of the drug on the fetus in humans have not been conducted. The active ingredient (metoclopramide hydrochloride) is able to penetrate the milk of a nursing woman. In this regard, use during lactation is not recommended.

Taking the drug may cause drowsiness, motor anxiety, weakness, excessive fatigue, convulsive twitching of the facial musculature, hypertonic muscle, rhythmic protrusion of the tongue, dyspnea. There are also parkinsonian manifestations in the form of muscle rigidity, tremor, bradykinesia. Side effects are uncontrolled inflations of cheeks, movements of the tongue, upper and lower extremities, and chewing actions. Taking the drug causes insomnia (insomnia), dizziness, headaches, depression, disorientation, dispersion, increased anxiety, tinnitus, in rare cases - hallucinations appear. In addition, adverse reactions are: fluid retention, hypertension or hypotension, bradycardia or tachycardia, diarrhea or constipation, dry mouth, urticaria, urinary incontinence, rapid urge, gynecomastia (with prolonged admission), menstrual cycle disorder.

The drug is intended for oral administration (in the form of tablets), intravenous and intramuscular (in solution for injection).

The tablet form is taken half an hour before meals. Adults prescribe dosage per day from five to ten milligrams, three to four times. The drug "Metoclopramide" for children over six years from one to three times a day for 5 mg. For adults, the maximum daily dose of 60 mg, at one time - 20 mg.

Solution for intramuscular or intravenous administration is prescribed for adults 10-20 mg, children after six years - 5 mg. For patients from two to six years, the dosage per day is recommended from 0.5 to 1 mg / kg of mass, while the number of administrations is from 1 to 3 times.

In order to prevent and eliminate bouts of vomiting and nausea associated with radiotherapy or the administration of cystatics, the administration is administered intravenously 2 mg / kg body half an hour before the procedures. If necessary, repeated (after 2 or 3 hours) administration is allowed.
