School Board Functions

Given the activities of the council, it can be argued that it performs several different functions at once. The Pedagogical Council is a multifunctional body. He solves the administrative, educational, methodological, social and pedagogical problems existing in the Shelter. Depending on the specific situation, one of the tasks is placed as a priority head of the school, or his deputies, when the preparation for the pedagogical council begins.

Management functions are of a variety: diagnostic, advisory, expert, legislative, controlling, prognostic.

Legislative bodies consist of collective decisions, which are taken in the course of an open vote, are mandatory for execution by every school employee. For example, these may be decisions concerning the application of certain curricula and methods, the procedure for attestation of OS employees, and the monitoring of the quality of education.

The advisory functions presuppose a collective discussion of certain information about the educational and upbringing process, the search for recommendations on changing the current situation.

Activities

The Pedagogical Council in the kindergarten has the same activities as in schools. Differences are only in the methodical part of the work of this self-government body. There are several directions in the methodological function of the council: developing, analytical, teaching, informational, activating.

The organization of the pedagogical council of informational orientation presupposes the preparation of an information message about the situation in the educational process, ways to improve it. Such meetings promote advanced pedagogical experience, analyze the main achievements of modern pedagogy.

The general-analytic direction assumes a detailed analysis of the level of teaching of individual academic disciplines, a report on the change in the quality of knowledge.

The pedagogical council in the kindergarten of the developmental direction implies the study of the experience of innovative pedagogues, the selection of new educational methods.

Teaching direction ped. Councils implies an increase in pedagogical qualifications. To this end, educators and teachers not only analyze the development of pedagogical advice offered by colleagues, but they demonstrate their skills, interesting methodological findings, transfer knowledge.

The activating direction consists in intensifying the efforts of the whole team of teachers, all methodological structures concerning work on methodological topics.

Each member chooses his own theme for methodical work, works on it for 2-3 years, then shares his colleagues with the results of his work.

Preparation for pedagogical advice

In order for the meeting to be fruitful, informative, serious preliminary preparations are made for it. In any educational institution there are methodological associations of teachers, including teachers in various areas: humanitarian, natural and scientific, labor. From each association one or two people are selected for the creative group that prepares the future pedagogical council. The members of the creative group develop the plan of the meeting, select the topics of the reports, identify the speakers, and solve all organizational and methodological issues. If necessary, the members of the creative group involve in the training of other teachers and additional specialists. Such collective activity fosters internal discipline, forms responsibility, organization.

Socio-pedagogical functions of the OU councils

Such functions consist in communication, association of teachers with pupils, parents, other educational institutions. In addition, it is this self-governing body that coordinates and integrates work with public organizations, the family, the school.

Contents of the teachers' council

The specific nature of the content of the council depends on the subject matter, the coverage of the main problems of modern pedagogy is possible. Most often, the problem of the educational or educational process is formulated in a specific thesis (a brief idea). For each school this thesis is chosen independently, for this the creative group works.

We will present a substantive thesis in modern pedagogical councils in the form of separate modules.

Knowledge, skills, abilities of students

This block examines issues related to standards, programs, continuity, intersubject communications. This section also includes questions related to the methods and forms of ZUN control, as well as diagnostics, options for working with students who are lagging behind.

Educational pedagogical technologies

Questions concerning the individualization and differentiation of education, as well as various teaching and developing technologies are considered. Both the classical technologies and alternative options for teaching and educating schoolchildren can be considered as the topic of the teachers' council.

Lesson

Such a block of pedagogical councils is devoted to modern requirements for the lesson, ways of activating cognitive activity of children, alternative types of education.

Education

In the course of the pedagogical council, the goals and essence of upbringing are considered in modern realities, the role of extracurricular work and extra-curricular activity, as well as the socialization of the student in the Shelter.

Modules for review

Modern problems of pedagogical councils can be singled out in the following modules:

  • Module A. ZUN pupils.
  • Module B. Consideration of educational pedagogical technologies.
  • Module C. The lesson, its components, features.
  • Module D. Educational process, its specificity, purpose.
  • Module E. Activities of the class teacher.
  • Module E. Issues related to the development of an educational institution.
  • Module G. Apprentice.
  • Module N. The teacher.
  • Module J. Socium, the family in the learning process.

The first three modules characterize the educational process, D and E are related to upbringing, G, H, J are related to objects and subjects. The educational process involves the interconnection of all modules, identifying the most complex, their discussion in the course of methodological advice. This process is controlled by the administration, the methodological school service, and the pedagogical council deals with the settlement and resolution of all emerging problems. The art of managing the OS is manifested in the prevention of various problems and conflicts, and the search for ways to eliminate them at the initial stage.

That theme, which is put before the teachers, is analyzed and included in the agenda of the council.

How to make the pedagogical council effective

For starters, a clear direction (subject matter) of the pedagogical council is highlighted. Then the theory, the best experience of teachers, psychologists, concerning the considered question is selected. Further, the psychologist, social pedagogue, class teachers, teachers carried out questionnaires, diagnostics, reveals the state of the OS in this direction. According to the results of the questionnaire, educational and methodological support is selected, and the speakers are selected.

Types of teachers' councils

Depending on the technique of conducting, advice can be traditional and unconventional. Classical teachers' councils can be represented in the form of reports, the work of problem groups, workshops, reports with subsequent discussion. Unconventional teachers' councils conduct outside educational activities, in the form of creative reports, auctions, competitions, business games, pedagogical councils, presentations.

Among the shortcomings of the traditional pedagogical councils, let us single out the minimal activity of the teachers themselves. In order to solve a similar problem, it is possible to organize several creative groups of teachers. At the first stage the topic is divided into several separate subtopics, each offered to a separate group of teachers. A general plan of the pedagogical council is being formed, questions are being written that will be discussed during the course of the work.

At the second stage each creative group is offered an individual task. Problem groups, in conjunction with the administration of the educational institution, are considering additional activities: substantive decades, seminars, methodical days, attendance of lessons. At the same stage, the documentation of the OS is being studied, an announcement is being prepared about the planned teacher council, a draft decision is being developed, recommendations are being thought through.

At the third stage, the pedagogical council itself is conducted. Its duration does not exceed 2.5 hours. The chairman and the secretary are selected, the minutes of the meeting are kept. The chairman explains the rules for conducting the teachers' council, voices the summons, and holds a vote. The draft decision of the pedagogical council is prepared in advance, after the meeting it is put to the vote. During an open discussion, amendments, clarifications and additions are introduced into the proposed version of the draft, and only after that they vote for the final version of the decision.

Conclusion

Traditional pedagogical councils are gradually withdrawing from educational institutions, as they assume only a superficial study of the problems posed. Such meetings resemble, rather, some briefings with abstract reports that do not link theory and practice. Such meetings have little impact, teachers can not show their creative abilities during such events.

Pedagogical councils, held in an unconventional form, allow to create real creative workshops. Teachers demonstrate each other their innovative developments and original findings, identify the best techniques during a joint dispute.
