PCP "Pecheneg" is a worthy continuation of the legendary PKM

The Kalashnikov infantry gun is one of the best models of the weapons enterprise TsNIITOCHMASH. PKP "Pecheneg" was developed specifically for the armed forces of the Russian Federation. The weapon was intended for the destruction of the enemy's manpower, the destruction of transport equipment and even air targets.

PCB "Pecheneg" was created on the basis of the modernized Kalashnikov assault rifle. That's why the designers repelled from the main parameters of the device and retained some technical characteristics, including the caliber of 7.62.

The main task in the development of the Pecheneg PCP was to increase the firepower and maintain its accuracy. Many modern machine guns have a need to replace the barrel after a certain time of use. Perhaps, the lack of such needs for this sample was one of the positive qualities of the developers of the company TSNIITOCHMASH.

The control panel "Pecheneg" is equipped with a barrel with a forced air cooling mechanism. During the shot, the powder gases provide a stream of air capable of cooling the hot metal. This allowed the weapon to reach the maximum rate of fire without a constant replacement of the barrel. The length of continuous shooting is about 600 shots, these are three factory boxes with a capacity of 200 cartridges each. With long-term fire management, the optimal service life of the barrel is about 30,000 shots.

The machine gun of the control panel "Pecheneg" has a fully automatic system for the supply of cartridges, and the locking details for it - as in the standard PCM. The action of automation is carried out due to the energy of the powder gases passing through the hole of the trunk. The return-fighting spring actuates the impact mechanism located in the bolt frame.

Since the fire from the machine gun is conducted under the influence of the rear sear, the trigger mechanism is capable of firing only in automatic mode. As a safety measure for blocking the trigger lever "Pecheneg" has a standard fuse, which is rotated by hand.

In addition to the basic sight, there are special mounts on the top of the weapon for mounting various types of optical devices that help to fire at any time of the day. As a feed, tapes with 50 links with a capacity of 50 to 100 cartridges of 7.62 caliber are used. The feed mechanism is located on the right side of the weapon and is equipped with a special lever.

The machine gun though is a unique example of the company TSNIITOCHMASH, but most of the mechanisms and details are borrowed from the legendary PCM. This allowed the developers to create weapons of good quality at minimal cost. After a long range testing all the shortcomings were identified, accordingly, a new and improved model of the Pecheneg 2 PKP was created.

The weapon was widely used in many military operations on the territory of Chechnya and characterized itself as a powerful and qualitative model of military ammunition, capable of serving in very different conditions, both regional and climatic. To date, Pecheneg is in armament in the Russian army.
